Happy Monday everyone! This weekend we celebrated Bradley’s seventh birthday. I can’t believe my baby is seven years old! I remember when we were first married thinking that once my kids hit age seven, that I would officially have “old” kids. Which in turn would make me old. And in a way it does, but I must say, it is fun watching your kids grow and develop their own little personalities. We are planning a party with his friends later this month, so we spent the day opening presents and helping him build his new lego sets. We went to go see that new Kubo movie that just came out. Garrett loved it, but I’m still kind of on the fence. There were some scary parts in it I was sure would give my kids nightmares (ie: evil spirit twins floating and chanting about stealing a kid’s eye…whaa?!). I was shocked at how scary they made a kids movie, but more shocked that my boys liked it as much as they did! And they didn’t have nightmares! I swear I was more freaked out by that movie than my kids were.
This fall I’m excited to wear jackets, and most excited about this leather jacket. I love leather jackets. They are such an outfit staple. I’ve worn some from past posts like this cognac one or this black biker one. I got this creme suede one that I love and it was just restocked! I wore it in this post.
The cut of a leather jacket is really important. It can’t be too loose but it also needs to have a little bit of room to layer over a top. I love the look of a leather jacket over a sweatshirt (like I experimented with in this post).
I’ve been on the hunt for a leather jacket that was cut directly up the middle without a lapel (lots of them have a diagonal zipper with a really wide lapel). I found a few here and there, but the price point was always way too high. However, I was willing to pay a little more because I know this jacket will get a lot of use. I wore my brown leather jacket constantly last fall. I found the perfect leather jacket during the Nordstrom sale a few weeks ago, and couldn’t pass it up. I originally got a medium, but I ended up exchanging it for a small because I wanted it a little more snug. It’s such a great length and cut. It incredible quality leather and is so soft and buttery. (if suede is more your thing, this suede leather jacket is really cute too!) I highly recommend it if you are on the hunt for the perfect leather jacket!
I rounded up a few of my favorite leather jackets this season below..
