This time of year I find myself wanting to take things a little slower and savor the fun of prepping for the holidays. The change over to fall comes with so many cozy activities, and I want to make sure I take advantage of them! We may not get too many changing leaves or below freezing temperatures, but our mornings and evenings are starting to cool down finally!
I recently got a few Cuddle Duds fleecewear stretch long-sleeve hooded wraps, and I love that it’s getting cool enough to wear them! Our house was built in 1913 and has next to no insulation, so it gets crazy cold when temperatures drop even a little. I’m always walking around like a crazy person in my robe and slippers all day long, but I’ve switched from my robe to this wrap and it is so soft and warm. It’s a lot more versatile than my bathrobe too! I can dress it up to go shopping with black pants and booties. Since it’s 100% fall now, I wanted to share a few of our favorite fall activities that help make things feel nice and festive:
Spend lazy mornings reading books: Cash is only home with me on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so the mornings I don’t drive for school carpool I like to hang around the house in comfy clothes and spend as much quality time with him as I can. He usually stays in his jammies, and I recently swapped out my robe for my Cuddl Duds fleecewear wrap (it’s just as warm but I don’t have to be embarrassed answering my door wearing it at 11:30 😉 ). He loves reading books, so the other day I surprised him with his very own Lost My Name book. It comes customized to the child’s name, and he was so cute when he opened the book and read his name on the first page. “Mom! It says my name so that means it’s my very own book!” He seriously melts my heart!
Drink Pumpkin Spice Herbal Tea: I’m more of an apple cider girl than a hot chocolate girl, but I don’t love all the sugar that comes with it. A few years ago I discovered Pumpkin Spice herbal tea at Trader Joes, and I mix it with almond milk and honey. It is my favorite thing to drink every morning in the fall. I stocked up on them last year, and I need to do it again this year!
Go shopping…real shopping: I am an online shopper through and through. It is just SO convenient as a busy mom. But taking the time to window shop up and down stores that are starting to be trimmed and decorated for fall is so nostalgic! I threw on my Cuddl Duds fleecewear wrap to run a few errands downtown the other day, and it was so comfy to shop in.
Light candles: I love the mood that I can set in my home with scents. Lighting a candle while I pick up the house, or after dinner as I’m getting the boys ready for bed, helps set a (somewhat) calmer atmosphere in our crazy house. And I’ll take any excuse I can get to smell pumpkin spice!
Cuddle: Does this sound cheesy? Probably because it is. But I love changing into my comfy pants and fleecewear wrap after a long day and curling up next to Garrett on the couch for a TV show or as we work.
Visit a pumpkin patch: So maaaaby we get our pumpkins from the grocery store down the street, but I still take the boys to a pumpkin patch each year! The best ones are a bit of a drive for us, but the boys love it and it’s worth the dirt and stress for the memories and traditions we are starting to build in our little family.
