BLACK DRESS (I’m wearing a medium)
I’ve mentioned it on the my blog a few times, but ever since I hit 30, I’ve really tried to step up my game with how I care for my skin. I want to do everything I can to care for my skin now, so that it ages gracefully and is well maintained as I get older. To kick things off, I wanted to meet with a professional to have my skin analyzed and see what steps I can take now to better care for my skin.
I met with Dr. Azizzadeh in his Beverly Hills office, along with his nurse Ashley for a complete consultation about 6 months ago. During my consultation I voiced my concerns about wanting to clear up the minor breakouts that I had. They discussed the different facial peel options they have in their office, and recommended some top of the line skincare products to prep my skin for the peels.
They recommended a skincare line called ZO Skin Health and I have bee SO impressed with these products. They sent me home with some of the heavy hitters from the line, and I have been using these skincare products for about 5 months now. I did an insta story a few weeks ago where I showed my nighttime face cleansing routine and I used lots of these products. I know there was a lot of interest in exactly what they were, so I wanted to break down my favorite products, which ones I would recommend, and why:
Offects Exfoliating Cleanser: I used this cleanser first. It is very calm and mild and is great for cleansing the makeup and dirt off my skin at night.
Offects Exfoliating Polish: If you were to get one product from the line, I would recommend this one. This is an amazing exfoliating polish and I use it after I use the cleanser. Very comparable to a microdermabrasion scrub, but more powerful and effective. It has larger magnesium crystals that provide the benefits of a microdermabrasion, along with gently polishing the skin. My skin is glowing every time I use it. I use it morning and night and it takes a very small amount.
Offects Sulfur Masque Acne Treatment: This is one of the most powerful face masks I have ever used. I try to use it once a week and it clears my pores like you wouldn’t believe! I also use it as a spot treatment on blemishes.
Brightenex: I use this cream after washing my face every morning. It has 1.0% retinol, so it is pretty strong, and I had to work up slowly to using it every day.
Retamax: This is a lightweight high potency retinol lotion that renews the skin and reduces wrinkles and lines. I use this every night. This is even more powerful than the Brightenex.
All of these products are available through Dr. Azizzadeh’s office and you are welcome to call them directly at 310.657.2203 and they can ship you out the products, or you can order online at their Skin Care Health Store.
Dr. Azizzadeh’s entire office and staff is so kind and friendly. Sitting down with them, I really felt like they listened to my skin concerns and they worked with my to create a tailored plan for my skin. They specialize in plastic surgery, and also offer botox and fillers and are known for being the best of the best. Any adjustments to the face and skin are very sensitive and important to each individual, and the team at Dr. Azizzadeh’s office make it their number priority to make sure you are comfortable with any procedure. Dr. Azizzadeh is one of the finest plastic surgeons in Beverly Hills. I was amazed as he explained to me in depth about different aspects of my skin and how our overall face, skin, and muscles develop and break down as we get older. The two peels he recommended for me were the Red Carpet Peel and the ZO 3 Step Peel.
The Red Carpet Peel didn’t require and skin prep beforehand, and it’s a peel that can be easily done on a lunch break. It’s called the “Red Carpet” peel because it brightens and tightens you skin, making it ready for a night out. My skin was seriously glowing after this peel! My skin was a little red for about 10 minutes afterward, but that soon went away and my skin was tighter and dewey. I could tell the difference this peel made on my skin the next day as I applied my makeup.
The ZO 3 Step Peel is much more powerful than the Red Carpet Peel and required about 2 months of skin prep. I used my Brightenex and Rexamax retinol creams every morning and night religiously. This peel targets melasma, acne, fine lines, large pores, and produces longer lasting results than ordinary peels. This one was no joke. I had to make sure I wasn’t going to be in the sun or shooting for the blog for 7 days after the peel.
Nurse Ashley was amazing when she administrated this peel. She is an absolute doll and helped me feel at ease instantly. She had me hold a fan as she cleaned my face and started painting on the solution. She painted on the peel solution one later at a time, and I think we got to about 5 or 6 layers. I did feel my skin start to burn as the peel started to work, but she went slowly and made sure I was comfortable with each layer of the peel. It’s a hot burning sensation…but not so much that it’s unbearable. The fan helped a lot! After the solution she applied another solution that I left on my face and didn’t wash off till the following morning (this one didn’t burn). The next morning I applied a very potent retinol cream, and then a calming cream over that. My face was pretty flushed on the first 2 days, and I started peeling on the 3rd day. I didn’t think the peeling was that bad, but by day 4, 5, and 6 my skin was peeling like crazy. I was glad I had timed everything up properly to not have to be out in public much or in the sun. I applied the calming cream 3-4 times a day to help with the peeling. The peeling was pretty much done by the end of day 6. I was able to wear a little makeup and wasn’t totally mortified at church ;). But the results of this peel were insane! I had baby smooth skin that was so tight and even. I felt like I barely had to apply foundation…and you guys that has never happened before! I am so glad I went through all the work to get this peel because it was worth it!
