This spring is all about bold colors. These red crepe pants instantly brighten your look and set it apart, but there are a few things I always keep in mind when adding such a bold color to any look. Here are three tips to keep in mind when wearing a bold color this season:
- Go with a neutral/nude lip. With any bold color, there is already a lot going on in your look, so keeping your lips a simple neutral color is best. A bold lip might over power the rest of the look and take away from the piece of clothing you’re playing up.
- Pair it with grey, white, or black. Bold colors need contrasting colors. You can think of grey, white, and black as your neutrals for any bold color. They are non-distracting colors that allow any color they are paired with to stand out. My grey and white striped shirt and my red pants have a clear juxtaposition which makes the look work.
- Dress it down just a little. Less is more with bold colors. They tend to speak for themselves pretty well, so the rest of your look can be pretty simple and understated. I paired these red crepe pants with a striped blouse, but I opted for a half tuck and unbuttoned the bottom of the shirt to give it more of a casual vibe.
THREE THINGS
- I have really tried to get more on top of cooking dinner consistently for my family, and actually sitting down to eat dinner earlier than…6:30. My kids always have fruits and veggies with their meals, yadda yadda, but dinner was something that I never planned out and didn’t think about throwing together until about 15 minutes before we actually ate. I’m all about quick and easy, so last week I went to Trader Joes and grabbed enough dinners for 2 weeks worth of school nights. I mentally planned what we would eat which night and it was great! And do you know what I did this week? I went and bought the exact same things and will make those same meals because I know my kids like them and they can sit in my freezer until I’m ready to make them. For some reason I had this dinner mind block that I had to make something new each night for dinner, and it just paralyzed me. Once I decided to only make the same 5 or 6 things, I don’t feel quite so overwhelmed!
- Can I tell you about this shooting location? We were shooting another look at a really cool pink and mint building (that is actually an animal eye doctor hospital…so random). I usually have places scouted out for each look, but I was rushing to get looks shot and didn’t know where we would shoot this look. Then I looked across the street and saw this teeny tiny house/store that said it was a “bulldog doctor”…again…so random. But it was closed and boarded up and so perfect with these joggers! Shooting in Pasadena is seriously so much fun, there are so many amazing locations.
- If I don’t have a late night bowl of cereal before bed I feel like I have failed as a human. I’m positive I will wake up a starving beast, but my brain forces me to have that night time bowl.
SHOP MY LOOK:
Wow, these are awesome outfits. I particularly adore the stripes style shirt with the red pants. I don’t wear a considerable measure strong hues however I can thoroughly observe myself in this outfits!
I need that red pants! I love red but I have only one jumper in red :p because I’m not sure about wearing bold color. Thank you for sharing the tips!
