One of the DMs I get the most is about where my necklaces are from. I’ve always been a gold lover, and over the years I’ve really gravitated to dainty layered necklaces.
I have a collection of gold dainty necklaces of all lengths and sizes and I love each of them for different reasons. One of my favorite things ways to wear necklaces is layering 2-3 at one time. This allows me to select a few that work well together and change them up depending on what kind of neckline I am wearing.
WHERE I SHOP FOR MY DAINTY GOLD NECKLACES
BAUBLEBAR: trendy jewelry in the newest styles. I get most of my pre layered necklaces here (like this pre layered necklace that I wear all the time). They have the most affordable pricing and have a line of gold necklaces that aren’t 14L gold so they are much more affordable, and I have been really happy with their quality. You can score 15% off your first purchase with this link, and they run a good amount of sales.
They also released a line of fine jewelry which has some beautiful high quality 18K gold pieces that will last a lot longer and they range between $50-$80.
NASHELLE – This is where my gold initial necklace of all of my boys is from. It’s so pretty and simple and is the best price for the quality I have found. I wear the 17.5″ chain.
I also love this Zodiac pendant necklace.
DOGEARRED – Beautiful unique pendants on mid-length gold chains. Their pendants are symbolic of so many different things like this Lotus Blossom one I love that represents chains. Dogearred necklaces are my favorite to give as gifts because they are so personal and meaningful!
I think this Karma necklace would be so good to give to someone who just went through a hard breakup! I have this dainty heart choker that I have been wearing constantly.
MAYA BRENNER– The daintiest of the dainty in fine gold jewelry. Teeny tiny gold initial necklaces that are chic anc appear “barely there”. Be very careful with these classics because they are so fine. These ones you wouldn’t want to wear while nursing a baby that likes to tug on your necklaces! I have this gold “L” initial choker that I treasure so much. I save this one for special occasions.
Baublebar also did a collaboration with them on their site that is classic and timeless and extremely high quality.
HELEN FICALORA – This brand was the original gold initial necklace that I fell in love with. Definitely the pricier I’ve seen of initial necklaces, but I love the “stamped” look of their initials and the gold is the best quality. I have this small disc necklace that says “mom” and I love it. This is a “buy and pass down to my daughter” kind of necklace.

HOW TO LAYER DAINTY GOLD NECKLACES
Finding the right length of necklace for your neck/chest is key. i would recommend starting with a high quality 14K gold thin chain as your base. Gold chains come in all different lengths. I wear this 17.5″ gold chain and it hits me in the perfect spot. You want your mid-length necklace to hit about 1″ below the very bottom of your clavicle bone.
My favorite way to layer dainty gold necklaces is to pair a short choker necklace with a mid-length necklace (about 17″), OR I love to pair a mid-length necklace with a longer necklace. The trick is to getting the right balance of space between the two lengths of necklaces. I don’t pair a choker with a long necklace because there would be too much space between the two necklace and it doesn’t fit together visually very well. You want the eye to be able to see all the necklaces in a balanced grouping at first glance.
Some of my favorite gold dainty necklace finds are necklaces that look like they are already layered, but they only have one clasp in the back. This necklace is a longer necklace that does that and it’s one of my favorites for layering. I also wear this gold mini layered choker a ton and I highly recommend it. It’s great for layering!
WHAT NECKLACES TO PAIR WITH DIFFERENT NECKLINES
HIGH CREW-NECK TOPS
With crew neck tops don’t be afraid to add a longer necklace to the mix. I shy away from chokers because they run right along the neckline of the top- so I do a mid-length necklace that is about 17″ long like this one, and then I add a longer necklace like this one to balance it out and add interest. A crew neck can feel a little plain, so adding a tiny pop of gold that hangs lower is a perfect polishing effect to a minimal crew neck.
V-NECK TOPS
V-neck tops (this top is my favorite, size down they run large) are my favorite tops to style necklaces with. They lend themselves to really make the necklace the focal point. I’m always layering, so I usually opt for a shorter choker necklace, and then a mid-length necklace like my gold initial necklace or a necklace with a really pretty charm. You can also add a mid-length necklace with a larger design here without it looking too over styled, because the V-neck leaves plenty of room on your neck for that added visual interest.
STRAPLESS/ OFF THE SHOULDER TOPS
I love a minimalist look with necklaces when styling off the shoulder or strapless tops. I think my favorite would be just a simple dainty choker like this itty bitty heart choker I’ve been wearing constantly. The daintier the better with this kind of neckline because I love keeping the chest, shoulders, and clavicle the focal point. (Eli loves my clavicles). Adding a simple mid-length necklace works great too!
LOW SCOOP NECK TOPS
Low scoop necklines can actually be a little tricky to layer necklaces with, because it the necklace is too long, it doesn’t work. Layering shorter necklaces with a longer necklace is fine, as long as the necklace doesn’t hit right at the neckline because the necklace can drop down your shirt and look messy/distracting. Also, I don’t go overboard with a larger necklace if the neckline isn’t ultra scooped, because I feel like it can get cluttered. I would stick with a choker, a short necklace, and or a mid-length necklace. Feel free to do all three!
