I can’t tell you how grateful I am for deciding to learn how to do my own gel nails from home a few months ago! I was just getting so tired of going into the salon every 3 weeks, I wanted to find a better solution. And I figured out the best way to do my own gel nails at home just in time for quarantine 😉
Many of you girls are in a similar boat with grown out gel nails that you are desperate to fix, so here is exactly how I do my own gel nails from home. I linked to all the products I used. As of right now, most of them are all in stock online and still available to ship. Some items might have a bit more of a delivery delay than normal, but at least it will keep us all at home during this time.
I filmed the full tutorial on how I remove and do my gel nails at home on my Instagram here, and I’m breaking down all the products and steps here. I hope this helps some of you!
1. File across the nail with a coarse nail file to remove topcoat
2. Pour acetone in a glass bowl, tear off section of cotton ball and dip it in the acetone
3. Place acetone cotton ballon one nail and clamp a Soak Off Clip to the nail to hold it in place. Do this for every finger and wait for 5-7 minutes
4. Remove clips and scrape off gel nails with the cuticle pusher. If the gel stays attached, clamp the clips back on and leave on for a few more minutes.
5. File across to remove any remaining gel.
* You can also use tin foil in place of the Soak Off Clips. Tin foil will need to be cut ahead of time. This method is fine, but much messier than the clips.
*I always lay a towel down. Acetone is extremely strong and I don’t want it to get on any table surface.
11. Apply 1 coat of gel polish (again, thin coats of polish each time), leave under UV light for 1 min
(*tip: on this first coat, swipe a thin layer of polish going horizontally across the very end of your nail. This will help it from lifting as the days/weeks go by)
15. Nails will still be sticky! Apply rubbing alcohol to a cotton ball and rub on each nail and nails will be dry and shiny. (if you don’t have rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer will work! And we allll have hand sanitizer! The rubbing alcohol was the only item I couldn’t find in stock online.)
16. Apply a small drop of Cuticle Oil on each nail and rub in.

Bubble Bath (very much a nude-pink. 2 coats for neutral, 3 coats for added color. This is the color I would suggest for the most neural blush shade and the one I use at home)

MY NIGHTTIME SKINCARE HACK..
I started this little nighttime skincare “hack” a few months back and I love it so much. I’ve shared it a few times on my IG stories and it’s so fun to see you girls starting to do the same! Here is what I do…
By the end of the day I’m exhausted and I’ve been trying to climb into bed a little earlier to spend more time relaxing and de-stressing. I have started keeping a bag on my nightstand and doing my skincare routine from my bed and it’s the perfect way to relax! By the end of the day it hurts my back to stand too long in the bathroom anyway, so I brush my teeth, wash my face, then hop in bed with my nightly skincare products. Here is what I apply while binging my favorite show:
I use my microneedling tool to prep my skin. It helps my skin absorb all of my skincare much more effectively.
I apply my serum. I have been usingOlay’s Deep Hydration Serum with Vitamin B3 + Hyaluronic Acid every single night for the past few weeks and I have loved my results. The serum acts like a cool drink of water for my skin, and I’ve noticed visibly dewy skin in the morning! I apply it by putting a full dropper of the serum into the palm of my hands, then gently pressing/ patting the serum into my skin.
I apply my nighttime moisturizer to lock in my serum. I take my moisturizer all the way down to my neck and chest. (make sure apply the moisturizer to your neck by moving your hands up from the base of your neck to your chin, rather than stretching that skin downward)
I put my eye cream on my ring finger and gently pat it in all around my eyes.
I apply my lip mask to make sure my lips stay moisturized all night.
If you haven’t already, I encourage you to throw your nighttime skincare in a bag on your nightstand and try this technique! It allows all of the products to sit and absorb into my skin and Garrett doesn’t have to sit around waiting for me forever before starting a show.

Today I rounded up some of my absolute favorite beauty products I’ve discovered and used over 2019. I thought it would be helpful to put them all in one post as an easy way to reference things that you see me use and wear on a daily basis.
I’ll also be diving into my favorite HOUSEHOLD, and FASHION products from 2019. I didn’t want this post to feel too overwhelming, so I am keeping the categories in three separate blog posts. No need to sift around to get to the good stuff, you know?
I was very selective in my beauty picks and only stuck to the TEN products I used and really really loved throughout the year. I refer to them quite a bit on my insta stories, so it will be nice to have them all rounded up in one place.
Here are my favorite TEN BEAUTY PRODUCTS from 2019 that I use and love on a regular basis…
ONE.
Beauty Bio GloPRO– You see me use this too time and time again on my stories. I use it 4x a week and visibly see fuller more plump skin after just a few weeks. This has softened lines forming around my mouth and my 11’s (the lines between my eyebrows). It also allows for my skincare products to penetrate deep into my skin so I get the full benefit from them. Read more about my love affair with my GloPRO in this blog post.
TWO.
Eyebrow Dye Kit– I wrote a blog post about how I use this dye for my eyebrows, but it’s just under $20 and has made the biggest difference for me! So many of you girls dye your eyebrows now and love it!
THREE.
No Color Setting Powder – I raved about this product a while back- my makeup artist told me used this setting power on me and it is INCREDIBLE It sets my makeup, blurs any fine lines, and has no flashback, which means it doesn’t read white in photographs. I initially purchased it on Amazon, but it was NOT the real product, so don’t go there to buy it! I found the real product online right here. (I tested both bottles and the link I gave you here is 100% the real product) Now that I found the real product link I can finally share how amazing this setting powder is!
FOUR.
Tinkle Razors– I used these small brow razors all year to dermaplane my face and I love them. I only use one one time because I don’t want to risk the razors getting dull. But they are sharp and effective and my face is so baby smooth after dermaplaning with them. I get them here in a pack of 36 for around $20.
FIVE.
Revlon One Step Dryer – There is a reason why the internet went crazy for this hair dryer last year. I caved and bought this one and it’s the only thing I use to dry my hair now. I’ve started letting me hair completely air dry, and I love smoothing out my hair with this dryer. It requires me to spend less time using heat to straighten out my hair. Highly recommend if you don’t already have one.
SIX.
Native Deodorant – After never fully committing to using only natural deodorant, I took the Native challenge and wrote about my experience right here. Since taking the challenge I’ve stuck with Native and they are still one of my favorite natural deodorants. Check out all my favorite scents here (highly recommend Cucumber & Mint).
SEVEN.
Drunk Elephant Vitamin C– This was the first Drunk Elephant product I ever bought and now I’m on my second bottle. It’s pricey but potent and I’m willing to pay for a product that works. I press it into my skin and neck every morning. I’ve seen a brighter and definitely more even skin tone. I wear less foundation during the week and I attribute it to the even skin this serum has given me. *Pro tip- keep it in the fridge to extend the potency life.
EIGHT.
Banana Boat Self Tanning Lotion– If you’ve been around here for a while you might remember my hunt for the best daily gradual tanning lotion. You can read all about my favorites (and the ones that don’t work) in this post all about my favorite tanners, but this lotion is my favorite by a mile right now. I use it daily and I buythis 3 packon Amazon.
NINE.
Le Labo Santal 33 Perfume – Perfumes are my weakness. I’ve been collecting them since I was 12 and wrote all about my favorite perfumes in this post. My favorite perfume of 2019 has to be Santal 33. Garrett surprised me with it on Mother’s Day! Deep and unique, smells insane, one spray lasts all day.
TEN.
Laneige Lip Mask – I know something is good when I have a back-up supply for when I run out. I apply this every single night right after I GloPROmy lips. I haven’t found any other night lip product that comes close to this lip mask.
MY EXPERIENCE TAKING THE NATIVE DEODORANT CHALLENGE
I announced over on instagram a month ago that my friend Lisa challenged me to a Native deodorant challenge. Lisa and I are pretty competitive, so I couldn’t say no to this one. I’ve tried a handful of natural deodorants throughout the years but I’ve never stuck with one for an extended amount of time. I switched back and forth from my antiperspirant deodorant and couldn’t ever really get through the initial detox phase with a natural deodorant.
A few of you have asked me about this detox phase and the benefits of natural deodorant, so I wanted to address those questions, along with my 30 day challenge results…
WHAT IS SO IMPORTANT ABOUT SWITCHING TO A CLEAN DEODORANT?
I’ve used an antiperspirant deodorant for years, but the problem with these kinds of deodorants is that they are made with aluminum. It’s nice because it causes you to feel dry..but it does this because the aluminum acts like a plug on your body’s sweat ducts and prevents you from sweating. This isn’t great for your body and I’ve known I needed to clean up my deodorant game for a while. Native deodorant doesn’t contain aluminum or parabens. It’s made with ingredients I feel safe putting on my body, like shea butter and coconut oil.
BUT did it really work? This was my big hesitation. I wanted to stop using an antiperspirant but I did NOT want to start being smelly and stinky. I’m obsessed with perfumes and I’m constantly aware of how I smell. I never ever want to stink and that has been the main reason why I was hesitant about a natural deodorant…especially after hearing about the detox period.
TELL ME ABOUT THE DETOX PERIOD.
This period is the hardest part. But I feel like if I mentally prepare you for it, you won’t be surprised or disappointed, because you already know what to expect. Basically after using an antiperspirant for so many years, your sweat ducts under your arms are clogged. Your body needs time to get this aluminum out of your system and this can take up to two weeks.
My detox period with Native lasted for about a week and a half. I started this Native challenge while on vacation in Texas where it was really hot. Prooobably not the greatest time to make the switch but I was committed. I worked out at our hotel gym and had sweat pouring down my sides from my armpit (gross..I know). That had never happened before. After showering and getting ready, I brought my Native deodorant with me in my purse, to the pool, to dinner, etc. I reapplied it 2-3x a day that entire week.
When I got home, I had a lot of dm’s from you girls saying how you loved Native and that using a detox mask on your armpits helped you speed up the detoxing process. So I tried it! I used Aztec Secret (I mixed it with water instead of ACV – you can grab some on Amazon), left it on for about 10 minutes, then rinsed it off in the shower. I really do think that helped my detox period go faster.
WHAT I LIKED ABOUT USING NATIVE DEODORANT
I really like that Native deodorants are a solid deodorant. I’m used to using a solid deodorant and had a really hard time with other clear natural deodorants because I felt like I was putting something wet and sticky on my armpits…to keep me from being wet and sticky. I felt clean and dry right away after applying Native.

After a week and a half I started only needing to apply my Native deodorant once a day in the morning. I remember my mom teaching me how to curl my hair on her gold Hot Tools curling iron when I was in middle school.

*pro tips:
Start at a lower heat setting (around 350) to help reduce heat damage, and work up to a higher head as needed.
Mix up the size of strands of hair as you curl. A mix of bigger curls on bottom and tighter curls on top will make for more natural looking curls.
Curling away from your face on either side helps frame your face beautifully.
Leave 1-2 inches at the end of your hair out of the wand for a more natural look.
Once your hair is curled, grab a few smaller sections of hair at the top of your hair and curl them a little tighter and tease the base of your top curls. This will give you ultimate volume!

My love language is perfume. I’ve been collecting perfumes since I was in middle school, I love perfume so much. It’s one gift I’m always thrilled to receive, and Garrett knows this!
The thing I love about perfume so much is how easily a scent can transport you to a memory. I recently started buying a perfume when we go on a big trip as a souvenir and I love it! I bought this perfume when we were in London and every time I wear it I think about that amazing trip!
Perfume is also one of my favorite gifts to give. I spend forever at the perfume counters at Nordstrom and Sephora and I’m constantly testing new perfumes.
Here are a few tips to getting (or giving) the perfect perfume:
Buy the perfume, but also get a free sample. Make sure you wear the sample before opening up the bottle (or toss it in the gift bag so the receiver can wear the sample first). This way you can make sure the scent works with your Ph level and that the scent lasts a long time.
*another good gifting tip is to spritz the tissue paper with the perfume! It’s so fun to open perfume when the gift actually smells like the perfume!
My number one tip when buying perfume:
It’s worth the investment in the perfume or Eau de Parfum…don’t waste your money on a Eau de Toilette. The Parfum has the higher concentration and will outlast a Toilette. Perfume is the most beautiful form of the fragrance because it has mid and base notes to the scent that develop over the time it is worn resulting in a much longer lasting scent. A Toilette has top notes that are more dominant at first, but they tend to fade quickly.
Today I rounded up some of my all time FAVORITE perfumes. These ones are the best of the best. I don’t mess around. If a perfume smells great but doesn’t last long – it didn’t make the cut.
CHANEL “CHANCE” – Garrett gave this to me for Christmas and it had been on my list for a while. This is one of the only semi-fruity scents I wear regularly (I’m typically a florals girl). It’s a mixture of grapefruit, jasmine, and a beautiful white musk (my favorite scent in a perfume) that lingers all day.
LE LABO “ROSE 31” – I don’t actually wear Rose 31, Garrett does. But this is for selfish reasons on my part because I want to be able to smell it on him all day. Its a unisex scent so it works for woman as well. This scent is in my top 3 ever. Ever. It was the first Le Labo fragrance I fell in love with years ago and one of the only ones we always restock. It has a deep rose scent mixed with cedar and amber. Trust me…its good.
STELLA MCCARTNEY “STELLA” – One of my signature scents I’ve been wearing for years. It’s delicate and feminine and it’s the scent I want my boys to remember me wearing when they think of their childhood. It’s a mixture of fresh rose, light peony, and mandarin with deeper notes of amber that give this perfume staying power.
JO MALONE “WILD BLUEBELL” – My London perfume! This one is so special to me. It’s my favorite perfume by Jo Malone and I don’t see it shared about as much as it should be. It’s a light powdery floral with white musk notes and it’s a scent I’ll rebuy over and over. Not very deep and rich, which unfortunately doesn’t have a ton of staying power, but perfect for date night or special event.
LE LABO “SANTAL 33” – It took be a little while to fall in love with this one. This scent is different from what I normally love, but Garrett gave this to me for our anniversary and I was thrilled! It works so well with my Ph balance. I smelled it on a woman at church and I knew instantly what she was wearing and I was so obsessed. It smells like style – thats the only way I can think to describe it. It’s super sensual with sandalwood, spicy, and musky notes. Totally different than anything I own but it makes the coolest statement.
MISS DIOR – I had my eye on this one forever. Very fresh and feminine with rose, rosewood, and bergamot.
GUCCI “GUILTY” – This one is another perfume that doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. I love the smell of this one about an hour after I spray it. It’s deep and beautify and it lasts forever (huge plus). I got this for Christmas years ago and I love wearing it to church. It’s a deep floral, so it has lilac and powdery notes mixed in with patchouli and amber. Trust me on this one.
PHILOSOPHY “AMAZING GRACE” – Super powdery and light. I love this especially when I’m fresh out of the shower. It smells like flowers and babies. I wish it lasted a bit longer, but it’s still good enough to make my list!
LE LABO “LYS 41” – This is the next Le Labo on my list. This one is ultra floral and feminine. A white floral fragrance of jasmine, tuberose, and musk. Right up my feminine alley.

I talked about how I was first introduced to the Evolution_18 beauty supplement line last month, and since then I’ve been using their beauty supplements consistently every single day. I wanted to write a follow-up post about them to let you know what they have done for me and my body, and how I have incorporated them into my lifestyle.
You can read all about the different supplements here, but I wanted to dive into the benefits I’ve seen personally. Most of the beauty supplements I’ve chosen to take from this line are all forms of collagen. I love that Evolution_18 provides me with multiple ways to take it every day. Over the past month of consistently taking collagen in the various ways I listed below, my skin has an increased fullness and has a subtle glow. Previously I went for quite a while without taking collagen consistently, so I loved seeing the benefits appear on my skin over the last few weeks.
My nails, lashes, and hair have both gotten stronger and less brittle. If you saw in my insta stories last week, the front section of my hair is finally starting to grow out, and I do think collagen has helped aid this!
Here are the collagen supplements I’ve been taking from Evolution_18 and when/why I take each one:
Evolution_18 Collagen Peptide & Protein Powder: This beauty supplement is one that I added more recently post-workouts. Especially on days where I use my weights, I try to get as much protein as I can. This has 14 grams of protein and collagen peptides. It dissolves easily in water, so I add it to my drinks, or morning smoothies. Love that they killed two birds with one stone with this supplement.
EVOLUTION_18 Beauty Glow Capsules with Collagen: On mornings when I don’t have time to workout (usually Sundays), I add these with my other daily vitamins. Love love that I have a pill option for collagen.
I ran out of EVOLUTION_18 Probiotic Beauty Blend Quick Melt, Lemon dissolving packets pretty quickly because I was super consistent about taking one every day. My personal test to see if I really love a product is if I want to get it again when I run out. I couldn’t wait to stock back up on these probiotics! They are so easy and pleasant to take, and they make me feel less bloated during the day.
I’ve tried and tested tons of products over the last year to help with breaking and damage to my hair, and today I’m sharing TEN of my favorites with you. These hair products have really helped nourish the ends of my hair, help my hair grow faster, and leave my hair silky, shiny, and healthy!
I have naturally wavy hair that is on the dry side from coloring, so it’s been really hard for me to find the best way to air dry my hair. Air drying helps keep my hair from being dry and brittle, but without the right products my hair is huge and out of control. I get asked a lot about how I get so much volume in my hair…but the truth is, I’m constantly adding product to tame the volume. But dry shampoo on the roots is my #1 tip for getting more volume at the roots!
IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE SAME KIND OF HAIR AS ME:
If you have more oily hair you will want to cut down on how many oils you use in my hair…but I use a ton on the ends of my hair to keep my hair from drying and breaking. In my roundup I’m also including the blonde products that give me the best results for maintaining my blonde without becoming orange and brassy.
THE HAIR CURLING IRON I USE:
I get asked a lot what I use to curl my hair and I use this Gold Marcel Iron in the 1″ barrel. I’ll post a video of how I use it over on my instagram. I’ve been using this particular curling iron since I was 12 and I always reach for this one when I need good curls in a hurry. It’s the best and a great price point!
Holy grail, hands down, get it. I apply so much of this serum to my hair it’s a bit ridiculous. A little goes a long way, but with as dry as my ends are, my hair just drinks this elixir up. I apply a pump to my whole head when my hair is wet, then to the ends when it is dry. I also have been applying it to the ends of my hair daily to keep my hair from breaking and I really feel like this has helped my hair in the front of my head grow. Finally! My hair is glossy and shiny and healthy. I’m almost out of my first bottle and I’ll be ordered a second bottle asap.
Do we see a brand preference going on here? There is a reason. Kerastase products work. I got a second bottle of this mask because mine is almost out. I only wash my hair once a week, and I use this as my conditioner. A little goes a long way and it starts working instantly. It’s incredible how soft and shiny my hair is after this mask. I feel like you can go cheaper on a shampoo…but this mask is worth the splurge. They also have this mask for thin hair.
One of my favorite drugstore hair products. Garrett first started using this putty on his hair years ago, and I’ve slowly taken over his bottle, so now we each have our own. This texture is so good and it’s under $10. Creamy, not sticky, but it acts like a texturising spray or salt spray when I run it through my hair. I add this to the ends of my hair after curling for a slightly messy/beachy look.
I use this primer on damp hair whether I’m blow drying or not. It protects my hair from any heat so I apply it to the ends before I curl my hair. I’ve seen less heat damage from using this primer.
Best purple hair product I’ve ever tried. It tames any brassy color in my hair in minutes. Be extra cautious with this mask and only leave it on for a few minutes. The lighter your hair, the faster it works. My blonde is fresh and a bit icy after using this mask. I only use it about once every few weeks to keep my blonde color exactly the way I want it.
A good alternative to the elixir oil (but still not as good). Let’s be honest, I use both. I add this oil to the front of my hair on day 3 & 4 to keep it from getting too dry and frizzy.
One of my very favorite dry shampoos, the Blush scent is my favorite (smells like flowers). A little goes a long way, so spray with caution. Very great for adding volume to the roots. I spray this on my roots from day one and it helps my hair last a full week in between washings.
I shampoo just my scalp with this shampoo. Because my hair is so dry I have a very dry scalp. I did a sponsored post on this shampoo years ago and have used it ever since. It helps keep my scalp from getting dry and flaky. I also think it’s helped with my hair growth because it’s given me a healthier scalp.
This oil is incredibly. It’s a dry oil, so it is very lightweight. I spray this on my face at night over my moisturizer and on my hands too, so it’s really versatile. Again, I use this to hydrate the ends of my hair. I get the best use out of it for my hair when I spray it on my hands, rub my hands together, and lightly run my hands through the ends of my hair. A little goes a long way. This bottle has lasted me well over a year and I’m halfway through it.
