Last weekend Garrett and I escaped up to Santa Barbara for the weekend. I planned the trip and surprised him Thursday night. We were so in need of a little relaxing break and it was great to just relax and spend a few days together. We ate at some yummy restaurants along State Street, rode bikes along the beach, went for a morning run, and laid out by the pool. On our first night there I really wanted to dip my legs in the hot tub, so we headed over to the pool and were greeted by 13 teenage boys in the hot tub. 13 you guys! It was hilarious. I just sat my prego body on the first step and couldn’t care less (don’t worry, I didn’t get my tummy in). I was just sad I didn’t wear my string bikini 😉

Happy Monday!  This week is Bradley’s Spring Break, so we have a few fun things planned. I am still recovering from two 14 hour work days this weekend (see a few sneak peaks here and here), so it will be nice to get to sleep in a bit more in the mornings instead of get out the door by 7:30. Bradley’s school starts at 7:30! Who does that?! Looking forward to a week spent playing at the pool and spending the day with my boys.

I just hit the 17 week mark in my pregnancy. In a big way I feel like this pregnancy is flying by! One of my absolute favorite things to wear when I am pregnant are maxi dresses. They are so chic and effortless. I love the crochet detailing on this dress. To me, they make getting dressed with a bump fun! I have really been into cream and ivory lately (as you can tell from my instagram here and here). It is clean and pretty and pairs beautifully with Spring pastels.
I am so grateful to be feeling back to normal in this pregnancy! For the first 12 weeks I felt like my body was in total control of me. I wasn’t sick at all with Bradley, but did feel nauseous with Cash. This time was even worse. I felt nauseous starting at about 4pm on. But I never threw up! I wished I could have to maybe relieve some of the sick feeling. Also, there were nights I crashed and went to bed as early as 8:30! That is almost unheard of for this night owl. My energy level is back up now, and I don’t really feel sick until about midnight (which probably means I should just go to bed). I’m trying to keep as healthy as I can and have cut out sugar/desserts from my diet during the week. For some reason the thought of carbs and sugar grossed me out during this pregnancy. Something about the aftertaste of them (I also brush my teeth about 4 times a day because I can’t handle any bad aftertaste). So I haven’t struggled too much without the sugar. It is crazy how gross I feel after eating a donut or cookie on the weekends. We will see how long it lasts, but for now I’m sticking with it!

This pregnancy I am all about long loose tops.  It’s not that I’m trying to hide the bump, I just love the look of a little bit of bump peaking through a shirt. This tassel top has been on repeat in my closet for weeks. It was great for hiding my bump early on before we were telling people. (this baby decided to make an appearance way sooner than I was ready for!) And it will last me my whole pregnancy. This Spring/Summer I am especially into a comfy, casual feel. I’m thinking lots of braids and loose tops. Bring on the heat, beach, and ankle swelling!

I’ve been working hard to fill my wardrobe with classic statement pieces. While different trendy pieces are fun to throw into the mix every so often, it is the simple quality pieces that I go to when putting together a look with only a few minutes to spare (which it the time frame I work with almost everyday).  I love how this cream tweed jacket adds a little sophistication.  To make this look everyday mom friendly, the heels could be swapped for some comfy sneakers and the jacket could be taken off.

To me, a minimalist look often translates as classic and timeless.  I have fallen in love with this Arvo watch (I have it in black and brown).  I’ve been on the hunt for a watch just like it, and the price for this one is so affordable.  They didn’t skimp on the craftsmanship though, with the straps being genuine leather.  I’m happy to make it even more affordable to you by letting you in on a 20% off code by using SUMMER20 at checkout.  Their watches are unisex as well, which my husband loves.  We’ve had to coordinate who gets to wear what color which day.  Never quite thought that my husband would be interested in something from my wardrobe….
