I just got this phone case in the mail and it is so beautiful. Understated and classy, but still a pattern. I’m a sucker for tortoise shell.
I own these distressed jeans in a lighter wash, and I’ve been eyeing them in this darker wash. Under $100 with a good high waist that is flattering (unlike a lot of high waisted jeans…let’s be honest).
This chunky grey knit sweater looks like it’s the perfect length. I love the crew neck and the smaller ribbed detailing along the neck, arms, and waistbands.
I’ve seen straw clutches everywhere, but this tortoise shell clutch takes the cake for me. And obvs I would have to use it with the tortoise shell phone case.
I mentioned in my stories yesterday that I switched off getting my nails done for getting my lashes professionally filled. I made the switch because of this polish. It definitely doesn’t stay as long as gel nails (nothing I’ve tried does, and I’ve tried a lot) but it stays on well for 7 full days for me. I am insanely hard on my nails and no other store nail polish has stayed that long!
I feel like I’ve narrowed down my favorite makeup products to the best of the best (more on that coming soon), except for bronzer. I’m on the hunt for the perfect one. Last time I got my makeup done the makeup artist used this bronzerand swore by it. I was really happy with the pretty matte bronze color, so I’m really considering buying this one for myself.
If you watch my stories regularly, you’ve probably noticed that I always change into some kind of sweatshirt/sweater once I get home. I want to add this one to my comfy clothes arsenal.
REAL TALK
(sometimes I call this section “THREE THINGS,” but I’m not loving either title. Any suggestions on what to call this short little post segment? I love adding a few funny things that have happened in our family, or real life events, just to share a little bit more with you. I’m just stumped on a name for it! It’s Cash’s 6th birthday today, and he has requested dumplings at Din Tai Fung for dinner. I always knew that I loved him…but this just makes me love him more.
Eli’s screams are louder than my other two boys by a mile. I don’t show it a lot on stories (because ain’t nobody want to listen to a screaming kid), but when he is mad or throwing a fit, he screams so loud he has us all plugging our ears in the car!
I’m starting to cut the fabric for my February dress today! I want to tell you ALL the things…but I promised myself I would tell you NONE of the things until The Monthly Dress reveal day. It’s so hard for me to keep you in the dark, but stay tuned!
This year I am drawn to all things comfy! The relaxed look is a huge trend, and I could’t be happier about it. Here are a few items to add to your 2017 wardrobe that will keep you warm, comfy, and just happen to be exactly in style…
SWEATSHIRTS: Right now I am literally wearing an old sweatshirt I got 9 years ago. For some reason I just can’t part with sweatshirts! But I just ordered this one in a beautiful rust color and I can’t wait to get it in the mail. It also comes in a few different shades of light pink. This one is neutral and long and fitted, which is a great way to keep a sweatshirt from looking frumpy. This oversized look is also a good option, and it works because it is a lighter weight fabric with a really good drape. I also love the look of sweatshirts under jackets like I paired in this instagram.
SNEAKERS: They. Are. Everywhere. Especially these ones. They are sleek and slim, not too chunky like tennis shoes. And they pair well with jeans, dresses, joggers, etc. I just ordered this blush pair and I am so obsessed! I’m thinking about pairing them with my hoodie, but it might be too matchy match with all that pink happening. I love that sneakers are well designed and on point now. They are the perfect momiform necessity!
JOGGERS: Obsessed. I love joggers so much. I have this pair and I would have them on right this hot second if they weren’t currently in the wash. They are super soft and are easily paired with sneakers or heels. I wore these on a road trip a few months ago and they were so comfy! I have my eye on this olive pair. They are more of a typical sweatpants material, and I love that olive shade.
CARDIGANS: I have been living in oversized cardigans (see this blog post, or on my instagram here, here, and here). They are warm and easy to throw on. I love a good grey or olive one because they go with everything!
NUDE MATTE LIPS: If you follow me on instagram or have seen my instagram stories, you know I’m so in love with these matte lip spreads. They come in so many pretty nude colors and don’t dry out my lips! The shade “infamous” is my current favorite. I’m wearing it in this blog post.
I had so much fun shopping the Nordstrom sale yesterday bright and early. I did most of my shopping for this sale online, but I knew I needed to get into the actual store to really let you know the look/feel of my favorite items. Today I’m going to get you all prepped and ready for one of the biggest and bestsales of the year – the Nordstrom Anniversary sale! Like you, I love a good sale, and this one is my very favorite. I’ve been shopping and studying 😉 this sale for a few years, and I wanted to share a few insider tips so that you can be prepared later this week when the sale starts!

WHAT IS THE NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE?
This sale is different than most of the big sales, because instead of marking down clothing items that have been available for a while or are past season, all of the Norstrom Aniversary Sale items are brand new for the upcoming Fall season! This is your first look at the upcoming trends, and a rare chance to get brand new seasonal items at a deeply discounted rate. Once the sale is over, the items that are not sold out remain available, but the prices all increase to their normal price.
WHEN IS THE NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY 2017 SALE?
Early access to the sale is July 13th-20th (available to Nordstrom card holders only), and it opens up to the general public July 21st-Aug 6th. Prices go up August 7th.
HOW CAN I SHOP THE NORDSTROM SALE EARLY?
In order to get the sale price during the early access from July 13th-20th, you have to have a Nordstom card. You can sign up for one online here.Get first dibs on the sale by applying for a Nordstrom debit or credit card! If you are approved before July 9th, you will receive a $20 Nordstrom Note toward your first purchase during the sale! Plus, as a cardholder, you will receive Early Access to shop the best arrivals at their Anniversary Sale discounted prices!
If the card isn’t for you, you can join Nordstrom Rewards here without applying for the credit card and you will still receive a $10 Nordstrom Note to spend at the Anniversary Sale!
A few years ago, I signed up for my Nordstrom card the night before the sale started, and I had no problem using my brand new membership number to order online.
WHAT IS THE SMARTEST WAY TO SHOP THE SALE? Online, online, online! I cannot stress this enough! I always post all of my top picks from the sale by 6 am the morning the sale starts. Then, in order to give you a detailed description of which items are good quality, flattering on, and cuter in person, I always brave the crowds to find the best stuff in person, and I do a dressing room round-up the day after the sale goes live so you can get a good feel for the cut/sizing/fit of the best items. Then I also do a post with all of the full fall looks I end up taking home with me. I do all the legwork for you, so all you have all the info you need to get the best items of the sale.
My advice to you is to get yourself a Nordstrom card if you don’t already have one, and check out my blog first thing the morning of July 13th. I usually pull an all-nighter the night before the sale, narrowing down the items online, to select the best stuff. Then, place your order online first thing! If you aren’t sure about sizing, order 2 sizes! Nordstrom’s free shipping/return policy makes shopping so painless. Your order will come with a return label, so if there is anything you don’t want, just stick it on your box and set it outside for the mailman to pick up. You don’t even need to make a separate trip to the Post Office!
IS IT WORTH IT TO GET A NORDSTROM CARD JUST FOR THIS SALE?
I sure think so! The pieces with the best discounts usually are sold out by the third day if the Early Access portion of the sale. That means that if you don’t have a Nordstrom card, you won’t even get the chance to purchase the item before it sells out.
A few years ago I didn’t have a Nordstrom card, so I had to wait until it opened to the public to shop. I was so disappointed to find that a lot of the items on my wish list were sold out or out of my size. It’s absolutely crazy how fast some of the items go. If you don’t have a card yet, it isn’t too late to register for one and be able to jump on that cute new Kate Spade bag, or booties right when they go on sale.

The Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale is going on now through June 5th! I went through and picked out my favorite items and put them below in categories so they’re easy to shop straight from this post. I was actually surprised at how fast items are selling out! A lot of things only had a few sizes left, only a few hours after the sale started. So don’t wait if you love something because chances are it won’t be there when you come back for it later!
Overall, I think this sale has a lot of really great practical items that will work for both Spring and Summer. If you’re like me, you can appreciate the value of quality basics that work with multiple outfits, like this top that comes in a few different colors, and this flowy top that is so comfy and flattering. There are lots of cute sandals and flats too. I love these wrap sandals, and these studded flats. And don’t miss out on some really cute bags, like this Rebecca Minkoff tote in grey. I found two of the cutest blush pink clutches that you need to go check out before they are gone. Both of them are under $20. I’m in love with the tassel on this one, and this fluffy one is so fun!
This blue maxi dress is another favorite of mine. I love the button down detail so much. And these wrap sandals would be perfect with it.
Asos has lots of great sunglasses on sale right now too. I couldn’t resist this pair. They are adorable and under $30!

Even if you missed out on Shopbop’s 25% off sale, you can still get this amazing leopard clutch. It’s one of those purses you’ll want to take everywhere. It goes great for casual nights out in jeans, but add it to a date night in a black dress and red heels for a more dressed up look too.
I have been loving everything neutral these days. I love the cut of these boots, and this sweater looks so cozy! I really want to grab a pair of mirrored sunglasses like these, and I’ve been testing out this scent all week. It smells heavenly and lasts all day. It’s definitely next on my perfume list. I can’t believe 2015 is coming to a close! Its been fun to reminisce and look back on what an amazing year this has been. Today I’m sharing 2 simple hairstyles that would be perfect for a fun night out tonight to ring in the new year…
This side braid adds a little glamour and complexity to simple loose waves. I love pairing it with pretty statement earrings, because it pulls the hair out of the way to show off the earrings.
Start with fairly dirty hair and curl the ends of the hair.
Part hair on the left side of the head, and tease the left side of the hair to add volume. Spray with dry shampoo or hair spray.
Take a small section of hair on the left side near the part and form a tight dutch braid, only adding sections to the braid with the hair on the side closest to your face.
Stop the braid when you reach the top of your ear, and pancake the braid (pull out each section a bit to make the braid fuller).
Continue braiding for another 2 inches, but don’t add hair to the braid.
Secure with an invisible elastic behind your ear. Add sections of additional hair not in the braid when you secure it, to keep the braid in place.
This look is simple, but the styling keeps it elegant. It works best with 2-3 day old curls.
Spray roots with dry shampoo to add a bit of volume. Curl the ends of your hair starting from your cheekbone down in loose waves that curl away from your face.
Part your hair on the far left.
Put the hair on your left side behind your ear and sweep all the hair off your left shoulder and onto your right shoulder.
Spray in place with hairspray.

I have these heels in blush and they are the most flattering heels I own! This perfume is one of my favorites in a light floral scent that lasts all day. This coat was just restocked and at literally makes me drool. I love it so much. And how amazing is this sequin dress? The beading is super intricate and it is impeccably cut. The emerald earrings and ring are the right pop of color to the look, and the clutch stands out with the graphic modern design.

Sunglasses are some of my favorite accessories. No matter what the style, I am always drawn to tortoise shell sunglasses. They are so versatile, and go great with black or brown. Tortoise is huge this season, so I wanted to round up a few of my favorite options from Nordstrom…
Picking out the right shape for your face can be tricky. I think multiple styles can be worn on various face shapes. Sometimes just trying on sunglasses in the store and looking in the mirror isn’t enough for me. I would recommend having a friend snap a quick picture on your phone of you wearing each shade. That way you can look at them all side by side and easily see which one looks the best. Here is a breakdown of my favorite tortoise shell sunglasses in various styles:
I am loving theses white tortoise sunglasses! Its a pretty twist on the typical brown and black tortoise. These might be my favorite. I like the bigger rims, and the silver hardware is a little unexpected for me since I usually always stick to gold.
Square (or rectangle) shades look great on lots of different face shapes. This style is pretty and classic.
Round shades are crazy popular right now. I sometimes shy away from round (I just can’t help but think some of the smaller round shades make me look like a bug), but these ones are proportional to my face and have a little retro feel to them, which I really like!

Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? This Nordstrom Clearance sale couldn’t be more perfectly timed. I woke up in the wee hours of the morning this morning and poured through their website. So some years I kind of have to struggle to pull out the good items on sale, but this year I did not have that problem! There are so many beautiful pieces on sale right now that are perfect for fall.
