Monochromatic looks might feel safe, but when styled correctly they can come off as effortless and chic. I love to play around with colors in the spring/summer, but in the fall – taupes and brown shades have been more of my jam.
This fun textured skirt is actually a dress. I just folded it down to create a maxi and paired it with this chunky soft sweater.
The cognac pouch belt breaks up the taupe color and adds depth to the look. I stuck with the same taupe shade for my open booties (similar). I thought briefly about adding a hat, but with so much textured fabric happening in the look I didn’t want to overdo it. An easy way to make an effortless look switch to forced is to add one too many accessories.
So I got the new iPhone 11 Pro last week and I’ve finally had time to really get to know it. I’ve never really been one to rush off to get the latest and greatest from Apple (I should mention that we have a version ONE iPad. Like from when dinosaurs roamed the earth. We can’t sync it with out computers so the kids just have to watch Kung Fu Panda on repeat when we take it on road trips).
I watched videos and read up on the iPhone 11 Pro before it was available to order and I was so impressed. The kind of impressed I expected to be when they released the last version of the iphone (I didn’t upgrade then). If you’ve been holding out for a while..this is the phone to get because of the camera. The quality pictures I can take with my phone are just as good if not better than my DSLR. I use my phone constantly for work and I film a lot of jobs with my phone, so I really wanted to have top of the line video. The wide angle camera lens makes it so much more convenient for taking group selfies.
I didn’t make it out to New York Fashion Week this year, but when I can’t go, I always love watching the street style to see the up and coming trends and find pieces that inspire me. This year I saw a lot of beautiful tweed tops and tweed trim, perfect for fall and heavily influenced by iconic tweed tops and jackets in classic black and white color palettes.
I love these NYFW looks, so I wanted to see if I could find a similar piece for a lower price tag. I did some digging around on eBay and was able to find a beautiful Anthropologie top with the perfect tweed trim along the high neck and sleeves (at a fraction of the cost of a designer tweed blouse). It has been a while since my days of “bidding to win” items on ebay, and I was able to discover so many great clothing options on Ebay and picked up a few new favorite ways to shop their site!

OATMEAL SWEATER + FLANNEL SHIRT + CROP JEANS c/o AMERICAN EAGLE OUTFITTERS || BOOTIES
If I’m not careful, it’s easy to let the holidays just sneak right up on me. I feel like I am constantly out running errands, trying to get all my gifts purchased, and getting ready for the next holiday event. So it’s really nice (and necessary) to have a go-to outfit that I love to wear, one that I can effortlessly throw on for all the errand running that needs to get done. Lately, I’ve been rotating this flannel shirt and crew sweater that I love! You’ve gotta find what works, right? For me, I’m all about comfortable basics. When I’m not shooting a look or going to an event, I want to be dressed as comfortable as possible. And you guys wouldn’t believe how comfortable these are.
Going on now through December 23- take 40% off the AEO Holiday Collection at AE.com! (some exclusions apply)
When you find trendy new basics you love as much as I love this flannel and sweater, it’s hard not to think about who would love receiving them as a gift! I love to give gifts that I would honestly enjoy opening and using myself. This flannel is not only super soft and cozy, it’s long with a great lean fit that would look great on lots of different body types. This sweater is also extremely versatile, making it the perfect gift for any of the women in your life. It’s lightweight enough to tie around your waist, or over a button up, but can also be worn just on it’s own. I wore it to bed the other night…so it’s pretty much the gift that never stops giving. 😉
It’s the season to give and feel gifted, and there is no better way to do that than giving a gift that you love to those you love the most!

My most used designer item this winter would definitely be my cognact Tory Burtch tote bag. It is a great neutral shade that goes with everything, and it is large enough to fit all the necessities when I’m running around with all three boys. The leather is stiff and sturdy, so it hold it shapre really nicely (I also keep the stiff cardboard piece that it came packaged with inside it when I’m not using it).
I’ve had my eye on this bag for a while and I’ve been so happy with this purchase. But I also did some digging and found some really great cognac tote bags that are a lot more afforable! This bag is about half the price and just a gorgeous, and this bag is is a really great faux leather option for under $50! I found a few others that were similar in all different price ranges, so I linked to them all below..

CYNTHIA ROWLEY CASHMERE CARDIGAN VEST c/o SIERRA TRADING POST || FRANCO SARTO WEDGE BOOTS c/o SIERRA TRADING POST (under $50!)
I’ve shopped online enough to know a good deal on a quality clothing item. I have a good idea of how much I’m going to pay for specific designers, and I’m always on the hunt for getting the best prices for designer pieces. I was browsing through Sierra Trading Post and was shocked at how many affordable designer pieces they have! I saw these gorgeous Franco Sarto wedge boots and could not believe they were available for under $50. I would expect to pay over $100 for them and have never seen this low of a price on Franco Sarto boots. Sierra Trading Post is like this little gold mine. At first glance I thought they only carried camping and outdoor gear, but after easily refining my search to specific brands, I found so many great fashion brands at such great prices. I also couldn’t pass up this Cynthia Rowley Cashmere vest– normally $115, and Sierra Trading Post has it for almost 40% off!
I love the look of a camel vest paired with light colored booties. I usually don’t go for light colored booties because the lighter color tends to cut off my legs and make them appear shorter- but the light vest helps balance that out so the look doesn’t feel top heavy. This vest is super soft cashmere and makes for a great ‘third piece’ on a standard jeans/button-up combo.
Sierra Trading Post is a fantastic store to check for those on your Christmas list who love name brands. I just did a few quick searches and found some of my favorite New Balance workout tanks for under $7. SEVEN. I found a North Face long sleeve pullover for under $35, these cute (super popular) TOMS Desert Wedges for under $50, and this cute Nanette Lepore wool cardigan for under $50! Jump on over and see what you can get for someone on your Christmas list that would blow them away – and they never have to know the killer deal you got ;).

CARDIGAN || SIMILAR TOP || TOTE BAG || JEANS || FRYE BOOTS
Last week we spent Thanksgiving with all of Garrett’s immediate family up in St. George, Utah. It was so much fun all being together in the same house! He has 9 siblings, and there were 35 of us total all under one roof. That might sound a bit crazy, but it was a total blast!
We did have a few casualties while we were up there. My nephew slipped on the grass the first day we got there and broke his collarbone (poor guy!), and while we were playing football on the big grassy field in the backyard on Thanksgiving morning, Garrett jammed his finger. He said he heard a pop and has been in a ton of pain. He finally went to the doctor yesterday, and he broke the bone along the pinky side of his hand! He has to have surgery on it next week. I feel so bad! With that many people around there are bound to be injuries, I’m just glad they weren’t worse than that!
While we were in Utah I felt like I could finally dress all bundled for fall. It wasn’t super cold, but the crisp air called for this cozy long cardigan, jeans, and these cute new Frye booties I’m in love with. My favorite thing about booties is they are super versatile. These Frye booties have a great cut in the front of them that dips down a bit and elongates the leg. I’m glad I can bust them out as much as I want, whether I’m in Utah or California. And this cognac color is always my go-to. It looks good with so many different colors!
MAROON TOP | LONG RUST CARDIGAN | DISTRESSED JEANS | BOOTIES | SIMILAR TURQUOISE RING
Long cardigans are so easy to wear this time of year. They have been my go to for casual looks. I loved this rust colored one the second I saw it. My maroon top is under $40, and it has a great high/low length. I like a slight tucked look, making the color stand out without distracting from the length of the sweater.
SIMILAR GREY SWEATER | GINGHAM SHIRT (sizes are limited, SIMILAR HERE) | DISTRESSED JEANS | BOOTIES
Gingham has a reputation for being a spring style, but I think it’s a great holiday style too. Layering it under a long sweater, or long vest, is an easy way to tie it into your look. It’s also really cute tucked into a midi skirt for a dressier look. The one I’m wearing is almost completely sold out, but this one is almost identical and it comes in a holiday red too.
GREY JOGGERS | BLACK TEE | NEW BALANCE SNEAKERS | ESSIE NAIL POLISH (color is Lollipop)
Everyone has their go-to comfy look. I was so happy to add these grey joggers to mine. They are the softest things ever. They come in three colors, but the light grey goes with just about everything so I had to go with these. My black top is also super soft, and right now it’s on sale… $39 for two shirts! There are six colors to choose from, and I highly recommend it as a layering tee.
BLACK DRESS | BLACK PUMPS | CHOKER | RING | EARRINGS | LADDER CUFF | SCREW CUFF | RED LIPSTICK (color is Annabella)
It’s little black dress season, which means it’s time to start looking for that perfect dress for the holidays. I loved this one because of the cutout top. I love how easily some black pumps and red lips can dress your look up.
DISTRESSED JEANS | CHAMBRAY SHIRT | SIMILAR CARDIGAN | BOOTIES | SIMILAR TURQUOISE RING
I’m all about long cardigans this time of year. They are easy to throw over casual tees and nicer tops (like this chambray shirt) for everyday errands, and they add style to any look. This grey cardigan is very similar to the one i’m wearing, and it’s less than $50. My booties are still on sale for under $100, and they come in four colors. These are the most comfortable pair of booties I own!
SIMILAR JACKET HERE AND HERE | BLACK BOOTIES | SUNGLASSES | SIMILAR BRACELET | SIMILAR NECKLACE (under $15 HERE AND HERE)
My leather jacket is definitely a fall staple of mine. Mine is sold out, but I love the looks of this one and this one. They are both under $100, so if you have been thinking about a leather jacket for this season these are great deals! I love how they look with my black buckle booties, which also have an edgier look to them.
BLACK DRESS | SIMILAR SCARF HERE, HERE, AND HERE | BOOTIES | BANGLE BRACELETS | SCREW CUFF | LADDER CUFF | SIMILAR TURQUOISE RING
This is the time of year for little black dresses and scarves. I love the combination of black with browns, so these chestnut booties and scarf were the perfect pairing with my black dress (under $100). Since my scarf already sold out, I linked to three similar scarves above that are all $25!
GREY PANTS | BLACK TEE | CROSSBODY BAG | BLACK BOOTIES | SUNGLASSES | SIMILAR NECKLACE (under $15 HERE AND HERE) | CHOKER
I love the look of black and grey. It’s clean, simple, and classic. Sometimes black booties with blue jeans can feel a little clunky together, but these grey pants and black booties together really dress up this look. My black tee is one of the most comfortable shirts for layering, but it works great on it’s own too.
I can’t believe we are at the first weekend in November! The days are flying by. But there is a great sale going on at Nordstrom right now that can help us all get ready for the holidays! The Fall Clearance Sale is going on now through November 13th. Current fall favorites are on sale for 40% off. You don’t want to miss out on these deals! I’ve rounded up some of the best deals from the sale below:
You can also use the links below to shop the sale by categories. Happy Saturday!
LONG CARDIGAN | DISTRESSED JEANS | TOP | BOOTIES
Long cardigans are so versatile. This olive green one works perfectly for dressing up a casual look. My booties are under $100, and they come in four colors, including a really pretty stone blue! My top comes in five colors, and it’s only $25. It’s the perfect everyday top for layering, and super soft like you wouldn’t believe.
TANK TOP | SPORTS BRA | SHORTS | NIKE SNEAKERS
Having a workout outfit you love to wear makes going to the gym much easier. When you feel good about the clothes you wear to workout in, I feel like your whole mood changes and your workout feels that much better. This bright violet tank top matches my Nikes perfectly. And these shorts are seriously the best because they are lightweight and breathable, but they also wick away sweat and don’t stick to your legs.
SIMILAR BLACK DRESS HERE, HERE, AND HERE | SIMILAR HEELS HERE AND HERE | BLACK LEATHER WATCH | RED LIPSTICK (color is Snow White)
Little black dresses are great this time of year with all the holiday parties and family gatherings. The one I am wearing is sold out, but I linked to three that are very similar. This one is the most similar because it has a floral design with lace all over, and I love the sleeves on it (it’s also only $48). This one is really classic, which I love, with pretty lace sleeves that are shorter like mine (it’s just over $100). And this one is more expensive, but the details are amazing. It has long sleeves and a drop waist. My lipstick is only $4, and I’m wearing a color called Snow White, which is a really pretty bright red.
CHAMBRAY SHIRT | SIMILAR CARDIGAN SWEATER | DISTRESSED JEANS | BOOTIES | SUNGLASSES | INITIAL NECKLACE
Denim on denim is one of my favorite casual looks. This chambray shirt is a great fall staple. I love adding a long cardigan sweater over it this time of year because fall is all about simple layers. This grey cardigan is really similar to mine, and it’s currently on sale for $35 (and it comes in four colors). These booties are probably my most worn so far this season, and right now they are on sale for under $100!
GREY SWEATSHIRT | DARK GREY JEANS | NUDE PUMPS | CROSSBODY BAG | SILVER NECKLACE HERE, HERE AND HERE | OTTERBOX PHONE CASE c/o
I’m always on the lookout for fashion inspiration all around me. I’m constantly taking screenshots of cute looks I see on Instagram, or jotting down a cute color combo that pops into my head into my phone notes. The snakeskin trend is big for fall, and today’s look was inspired by this gorgeous OtterBox Strada Series Limited Edition premium leather snakeskin case. Not only is this case real leather, insanely durable and slim, but the monotone color pallett goes great with any fall outfit.
This phone case comes in a few other color options, but the silvery grey tones really spoke to me and I knew they would be a great inspiration for a look. I always like pairing darker colors on the bottom, so I went with these dark grey pants, and paired it with this super soft light grey sweater on top. To mimic the silver of the snakeskin, I completed the outfit with pretty silver accent jewelry and an ivory crossbody bag. Grey is one of my favorite colors to wear in the fall!

With fall in full swing now, I wanted to pull together 6 looks from the past for inspiration this fall. I’ve linked to similar items below when anything I’m wearing is no longer available! A lot of the items I’m wearing are still fully stocked, and surprisingly most of these looks include current fall trends like fringe, cowl neck sweaters, long cardigans, and saddle bags. Hopefully these looks allow you to make use of some of the styles you already own, while adding elements of this season’s trends to pull the outfit together.
FLOPPY HAT | CAPE (still available in red and navy) | TURTLENECK | SIMILAR METAL CLUTCH | DISTRESSED JEANS | SIMILAR BOOTIES
This cape is a great fall layering piece, and it’s still available in red and navy (currently under $60). My turtleneck is also still available, and it comes in five different colors (all basics, so they are easy to match!). Turtlenecks are really in this season and very versatile. You can wear them by themselves with jeans, or layered under sweaters and dresses.
CAMEL COWL NECK SWEATER | SIMILAR FLARE JEANS | BOOTIES | SIMILAR COGNAC SADDLE BAG (SPLURGE VERSION) | RAY BANS | SIMILAR LEATHER WATCH
Two things you still can’t go wrong with this season are flared denim and cowl neck sweaters. These jeans are currently on sale for under $90! This cowl neck sweater is still available, and it comes in 6 colors (under $70). My saddle bag is sold out, but this one is very similar and also comes in cognac or black. Saddle bags are really popular again this season.
SIMILAR CHUNKY SWEATER (SIMILAR HERE) | SIMILAR WHITE BUTTON-UP | SIMILAR LEATHER LEGGINGS | SIMILAR RED HEELS | SIMILAR BLACK BAG | SIMILAR POM KEYCHAIN | SUNGLASSES
Chunky knit sweaters are always a fall staple. This one is similar to mine, but the price point is a little high. This one is a little bit lighter grey and longer in length, but it’s only $38! I’m actually really loving the style and length to it. Black faux leather leggings are still in this season too, and these ones are only $29!
SIMILAR LONG CARDIGAN | SIMILAR WHITE TOP | SIMILAR JEANS | SIMILAR BOOTIES (under $100!) | SIMILAR FRINGE BAG | SUNGLASSES | SIMILAR FRINGE NECKLACE | LEATHER WATCH | LADDER CUFF BRACELET
It seems like long cardigans will always be a fall trend. They are so versatile and easy to throw over just about anything. I love that fringe made a comeback again this year because I love this fringe bag (very similar to my clutch). It’s the perfect color for all the cognac booties. This pair is very similar to mine, and they are currently under $100 and fully stocked!
SIMILAR OLIVE SHIRTDRESS HERE, HERE, AND HERE | SIMILAR OPEN TOE BOOTIES | SIMILAR COGNAC SADDLE BAG (SPLURGE VERSION) | SIMILAR HAT | SIMILAR KNOT NECKLACE | LADDER CUFF BRACELET | GOLD WATCH |
I love shirtdresses for fall, especially in L.A. where our falls feel more like summer (this one is most similar to mine, but I love the length on this one and the longer sleeves on this one). You can still add a floppy hat, some open-toe booties, and even tie an extra layer around your waist when it’s cooler out. Olive green is the perfect color for fall, and it works with all kinds of browns and neutrals.
WHITE TOP | SIMILAR OLIVE GREEN SKIRT HERE, HERE AND HERE | SIMILAR OXFORDS | SIMILAR COGNAC SADDLE BAG | SIMILAR CUFF | SUNGLASSES
This white top is still a staple of mine. I have it in a couple other colors, and I love how easily it works tucked into a skirt. This olive lace skirt is very similar to mine. I love how it looks with classic heeled oxfords like these. You could even add a neck scarf to this look to dress it up a little more.
