I have been living in this graphic tee for weeks now and I can up with five different ways to style a graphic tee to get some good use out of it. I tend to gravitate to pairing it with joggers or faux leather leggings, but I added in a few other options if it’s still warm where you live. I can’t wait to pair it with a camel coat or blazer as well.
MY FAVORITE WAYS TO ADD HOLIDAY STYLE TO A CLASSIC LITTLE BLACK DRESS
Here is the thing that makes a good LBD so special- if you find the right one thatfits you like a glove, you can rewear this dress to parties and events all year long with a few with just a few styling changes.
With holiday parties in full swing, I wanted to talk about one of my favorite tips for perfecting a holiday party look. I love a little black dress. I feel like they are my secret weapon for a chic party look! I found this one a few weeks ago at Nordstrom and I’m really in love with the fit, cut, and fabric of this dress. Nordstrom has a handful of really beautiful little black dresses at great price points right now, I linked to my top favorites below.
By starting with a really classic dress as your base, bring in shine and sparkly with your accessories. I found so many great options to style a black dress at Nordstrom right now. I listed my favorite options all at good price points (most of them are under $50). And if you are struggling to find a gift for your friend who has everything, chances are she already has a good LBD in her closet, so these velvet ball hoops would make a great gift for her to pair with it (and under $30 too!).
Have you tried this Nordstrom service?
And when it comes to last minute holiday shopping, I have started utilizing Nordstrom’s pay and pickup service – it is a life saver! Just pay for your item online, and select “pick up”. Within just a few hours you will get a text letting you know your order is ready. Pull up, shoot them a text, and someone will deliver your item to your car! I used this just last week and had a car full of sleepy boys in PJ’s and it was so convenient. I love that Nordstrom always has the customer experience in mind.
I truly love this little black dress. The fabric is a poly/spandex blend so it’s more luxe than a knit but still has a stretch to it. It isn’t maternity, but the side ruching is flattering with or without a bump! And the high neck is really chic. It’s such a great buy for under $80 and I love that I can wear it after baby too!
If you wanted to opt for a low pony, thest bow scrunchies are so cute and you get 2 for only $15
If you don’t want a super high heel for your event, these leopard slides are a great option.
Invitations might already starting to be trickling in to a holiday party over the next few weeks. While attending them is fun, my favorite part of a fancy event is planning my outfit and getting dressed up, so I had a lot of fun putting together todays post. Whether it’s a company party, a fancy girls dinner, or a close group of friends, I always feel a lot more in the holiday spirit when I go a bit more on the fancy side. Today I rounded up lots of dresses at different colors, styles, and price points to help you find the perfect dress this year.
DRESS(wearing a size US 0 – I had the hardest time linking this dress for some reason! It redirects to their Canada site, so if you chance it to a .com and search “Shea Sequin Drape Maxi” you should find it!)
One bit of styling advice – don’t overdo it. If you are wearing head to toe sequins, keep the accessories simple and wear your hair down in soft curls or back in a low pony. If you are wearing a more simple design, add some metallic to your shoes or clutch and go with a bold lip or smokey eye.
I might not need an arsenal of winter coats living in Southern California, but I do love stocking up on a handful of cozy sweaters and sweatshirts around this time of year. I just keep getting blown away at the women’s clothing from Walmart, and their sweater section is no different. This season I purchased along cardigan, a distressed sweatshirt, a leopard sweatshirt, and a leopard sweaterfrom Walmart (with their next day delivery, game changer) and I was impressed with every single one of them. At such a great price point, you can pick up a handful of basic sweaters to get you through the season. Today I styled one my my sweatshirts with the duster cardigan, but the sweatshirt is super cute on it’s own, and the cardigan would look darling paired with a shirtdress as well.
I also rounded up ten sweaters for you from walmart.com that are all cute and under $30. Hint- check out their entire Scoop lineof clothing. Everything I’ve ever tried from that line is so impressive. Also, mycognac bagfrom this post just went on sale for $23!
This LONG RIBBED DUSTER is fully stocked in my favorite brown color for fall and just $18!
I’m wearing this LONG DUSTER SWEATER in today’s post and now I need to get it in grey and black.
You’ve need me wear this LEOPARD SWEATSHIRT on instagram this whole month and you wiped out all the sizes in this colorway! But I found it in a really cute oatmeal plaid and it’s worth the purchase because its so soft and easy to wear.
This GREY DISTRESSED SWEATSHIRT I talked about on my insta stories a while back is still available in Med and Large. I wear it at least twice a week.
Only a few more sized left in this LEOPARD SWEATER I’m wearing on my Instagram here. Its so soft and only $20!
You know I’m a sucker for chartreuse, how cute is this CHARTREUSE V NECK SWEATER. Again- under $30 but looks much more expensive.
I was so happy to see that this cute colorblock cardigan is currently on sale! I linked it below and also rounded up some other good finds that just went on sale. I have steered clear from cardigans for a while (with the exception of long dusters), mostly because I didn’t love the proportioning of them. Many of them were too boxy, too tight, and didn’t come long enough to feel chic. I love the length and proportion of this cardigan. It’s every so oversized and it buttons lower on the stomach which is great for layering necklaces. I paired this look with a cute thin turtleneck and sneakers for an everyday fall look.
I talked about this sweatshirtlast week and I wore it again all day yesterday. Love the grey color and distressing and you can’t beat it for under $30.
The army sneakers I’m wearing in this post are so comfortable and you will never guess where they are from! Simple, well made, and $30.
All I’ve been wanting to wear recently is loungewear. This comfy top just went on sale for 40% off and I’m so tempted to grab it in grey.
I love the mauve color of this Armani lip stain(its what I’m wearing in this post in the color Dessert) – currently on sale. High pigment and doesn’t dry out my lips. I love wearing it over my favorite Boldly Bear lip liner.
I’m a sucker for anything chartreuse, and I fell in love with this beautiful satin blouse. The images really do the true color of this top justice. The sleeves also have a small extra strip of fabric that give the illusion of shoulder pads and I love the silhouette it creates with these high waisted paper bag trousers. Add a cognac heel (or bootie, or pointed flat..just keep it cognac) and you’re good to go. I rounded up some great similar options at all price points below…
AN UNEXPECTED FALL COLOR COMBO – 40% OFF A VERSATILE FALL DRESS
After a few weeks of travel it’s nice to be home! Today I wanted to share this beautiful dress – its currently 40% off and comes in some great colors. I also love it in navy and would style the navy exactly the same way. One of the beauties about a cognac belt/shoe combo is that they go with so many different colors.
Today I linked this look and a few other dresses that would also pair well with cognac. It’s my favorite color to wear for fall because it’s so versatile!
PURPLE DRESS(40% off! wearing size S, could have sized down to XS. I recommend sizing down)
The Shopbop sale is one of my favorite sales to cover because it’s different than many other sales out there. This sale is predominantly for those higher end, more expensive pieces. Dresses for a special occasion, a designerhandbag or sunglasses, quality denim, or a great quality pair of shoes.
Right now you can get 20% off anything under $500 or 25% off anything over $500 with code STOCKUP19
The sale is super quick and ends TOMORROW NIGHT at midnight PST, so hope to it if you’ve been holding out on a beautiful new clutch for fall!
Monochromatic looks might feel safe, but when styled correctly they can come off as effortless and chic. I love to play around with colors in the spring/summer, but in the fall – taupes and brown shades have been more of my jam.
The cognac pouch belt breaks up the taupe color and adds depth to the look. I stuck with the same taupe shade for my open booties (similar). I thought briefly about adding a hat, but with so much textured fabric happening in the look I didn’t want to overdo it. An easy way to make an effortless look switch to forced is to add one too many accessories.
My thoughts on the iPhone 11:
So I got the new iPhone 11 Pro last week and I’ve finally had time to really get to know it. I’ve never really been one to rush off to get the latest and greatest from Apple (I should mention that we have a version ONE iPad. Like from when dinosaurs roamed the earth. We can’t sync it with out computers so the kids just have to watch Kung Fu Panda on repeat when we take it on road trips).
I watched videos and read up on the iPhone 11 Pro before it was available to order and I was so impressed. The kind of impressed I expected to be when they released the last version of the iphone (I didn’t upgrade then). If you’ve been holding out for a while..this is the phone to get because of the camera. The quality pictures I can take with my phone are just as good if not better than my DSLR. I use my phone constantly for work and I film a lot of jobs with my phone, so I really wanted to have top of the line video. The wide angle camera lens makes it so much more convenient for taking group selfies.
4 WAYS TO STYLE A BLAZER + MY FAVORITE BLAZERS FOR UNDER $100
A blazer is such a chic third piece to add to elevate a basic look. Blazers can be worn all year round and I’ve found them to be so versatile! Today I’m styling one of my favorite blazers FOUR different ways to give you a few ideas of how to get multiple wears out of one of my favorite pieces to add to a closet.
A shorter knit dress is the perfect way to keep that blazer wearable in the warmer months. I love a basic knit dress with it. Add a cute pair of statement earrings and a neutral heel and your all set for the office or lunch meeting.
I think this is my favorite of all four looks. Pulling in a light sweater in a color that pairs well with your blazer is a good way to add more pops of color. I would suggest going with an ankle bootie that is the same color as your blazer (if your blazer is a neutral shade like this) or a few shades darker than your blazer. I would wear this to date night in a heartbeat!
4. LET YOUR BLAZER STAND OUT WITH AN ALL BLACK LOOK
All black is always a safe bet! I opted for a more casual look with distressed black jeans, flat black boots, and a high pony – but this can easily be elevated a bit with nicer black pants, heels, and sleek straight hair. This is an especially good option if your blazer has some great embellishments like this one and needs to do a little show stealing.
THE HOT PINK TREND FOR SPRING: MY TOP 5 PICKS & HOW TO WEAR THEM
Hot pink was all over the red carpet this awards season. It’s very much a hot shade for Spring 2019. Hot pink can be a little tricky to style and look chic, but I’ll help you find and style this shade so you can wear it with confidence.
While I’m very much a girly girl who loves a pretty pink dress, the specific shade of hot pink isn’t in my closet a ton. Today I’m sharing 6 hot pink pieces I’m loving for spring and how I would style them.
If you are going to go all out with a hot pink dress, I would suggest pairing it with nude pumps, a gold statement earring, a neutral bag (think white, nude, or gold), and a nude or soft pink lip. I fell head over heels for this breathtaking Self Portrait hot pink ruffled dress. The light weight chiffon keep the dress classy and whimsical. This dress is enough of a statement, so I wouldn’t recommend overdoing it with a hot pink lip or other matching accessories. That’s where the look would go from chic to overdoing it.
2. A HOT PINK LIP
I usually only wear a hot pink lip in the spring and summer. When I do I usually pair it with a simple white blouse or white dress. I don’t like mixing in too many color with a bold pink lip. I also tend to shy away from wearing statement earrings. Just a simple earrings, minimal eyeshadow, and a simple winged eyeliner to balance it out should do the trick! I wrote about more of my favorite pink lip shades in this post. I also love the bright fuchsia color I wore in The May Dress Shoot!
3. A HOT PINK BATHING SUIT
Hot pink is so perfect for the pool or beach! It’s a flattering shade on all skin tones. I have a hot pink suit I wore in this post and I feel so much more tan when I wear it. With summer around the corner I have my eye on a few of these great hot pink suits.
4. A HOT PINK BLAZER
I own this hot pink blazer and I really love it. I haven’t worn it for a while, so I’m excited to start rotating it into my wardrobe again for spring. Again – let the blazer speak for itself, and pair with neutrals. I think a white crew neck tee and white pants with casual slides would be really cute with a hot pink blazer.
5. A HOT PINK BLOUSE
I found a few really cute hot pink blouses. I’m usually turned off by the idea of a hot pink blouse, but if there are ruffles or lace involved I can get onboard. I think a hot pink blouse needs to be fairly frilly, all out girl. I don’t think I would get a classic button-up blouse or a tee in a hot pink. I think of hot pink as a statement color, so the cut of the top needs to be a statement as well. I think a hot pink blouse is the only time I think a hot pink lip or statement earrings would be appropriate (not both though!). If it’s balanced with jeans and a nude pump and loose waves or a simply pony it can look really chic with that same color pop on the lip or ear!
