family/maternity photo shoot + embellished cardi

I wanted to share some of the shots from our family/maternity photo shoot we did a while back for our Christmas cards.  My talented sister in law shot them and I did the editing.
I found the fabric for my cardigan this summer at the fabric district for $2 a yard.  It is super soft, almost like cashmere.  I also found the intricate beaded trim there for about $4 a yard, and couldn’t get this project out of my head till I had it completed.

new look

Have you noticed the new blog design?  I decided it was time for a little change (I also have a few more new changes coming shortly…).  I enlisted the help of Connie for installing everything and she completley exceeded my expectations!  I worked on the design elements and she implemented them in no time.  She was an absolute dream to work with and I am so grateful for all of her hard work and effort.
Connie is also one talented  photographer.  Check out her photography blog, Connie B Photography,  here.  She has a fantastic eye, and is great at making things aesthetically pleasing.

Thanks again Connie!

Bradley’s book

I have been planning on putting together a photo book of Bradley for the past 2 years of his life, and finally got around to it.  It’s just one of those things that sits on your to do list and always gets put on the back burner.  I used mypublisher to make our wedding photo book and loved how it turned out.  I got an email from them for 80% off  the normal price (you read correctly…80%!) so I jumped on it.  I am in love with how they turned out…
I was able to fill each book with 100 pages and it was only $40 per book!  They usually have great prices normally, and are always doing specials.  But this was the best discount I have seen yet and couldn’t pass it up.
I would recommend using mypublisher to anyone.  They turned out great and the program was really easy to work with.  Now if I could just find a good place to print out blogs…..any suggestions?
Also, you probably noticed my new site design!  It’s still a little under construction, but I am really excited for a fresh new look!  More on that later….

light reading

This weekend my friend Chelsea and I stopped by Alice Lane for this:
let me just tell you, they served the rainbow cake and it was as amazing in person as it is in the picture and it was muy delicioso.
While I was there I picked up these two beauties
They were on sale half of and it was cool to get them signed by Nicole.  I’ve already read the illustrator book (thanks to Adri) and it was great.  These books are really well written.  They are easy to understand and I’ve already learned a handful of photo editing skills that make a world of difference.
On a side note, Alice Lane never ceases to amazing me.  I want every piece the have in my home.  But that is an entirely different post.
