Hot pink was all over the red carpet this awards season. It’s very much a hot shade for Spring 2019. Hot pink can be a little tricky to style and look chic, but I’ll help you find and style this shade so you can wear it with confidence.

While I’m very much a girly girl who loves a pretty pink dress, the specific shade of hot pink isn’t in my closet a ton. Today I’m sharing 6 hot pink pieces I’m loving for spring and how I would style them.

1. A HOT PINK STATEMENT DRESS

 

If you are going to go all out with a hot pink dress, I would suggest pairing it with nude pumps, a gold statement earring, a neutral bag (think white, nude, or gold), and a nude or soft pink lip. I fell head over heels for this breathtaking Self Portrait hot pink ruffled dress. The light weight chiffon keep the dress classy and whimsical. This dress is enough of a statement, so I wouldn’t recommend overdoing it with a hot pink lip or other matching accessories. That’s where the look would go from chic to overdoing it.

 

 

2. A HOT PINK LIP

 

 

I usually only wear a hot pink lip in the spring and summer. When I do I usually pair it with a simple white blouse or white dress. I don’t like mixing in too many color with a bold pink lip. I also tend to shy away from wearing statement earrings. Just a simple earrings, minimal eyeshadow, and a simple winged eyeliner to balance it out should do the trick! I wrote about more of my favorite pink lip shades in this post. I also love the bright fuchsia color I wore in The May Dress Shoot! 

 

 

3. A HOT PINK BATHING SUIT

 

 

Hot pink is so perfect for the pool or beach! It’s a flattering shade on all skin tones. I have a hot pink suit I wore in this post and I feel so much more tan when I wear it. With summer around the corner I have my eye on a few of these great hot pink suits.

 

4. A HOT PINK BLAZER

 

 

 

I own this hot pink blazer and I really love it. I haven’t worn it for a while, so I’m excited to start rotating it into my wardrobe again for spring. Again – let the blazer speak for itself, and pair with neutrals. I think a white crew neck tee and white pants with casual slides would be really cute with a hot pink blazer.

 

5. A HOT PINK BLOUSE

 

 

I found a few really cute hot pink blouses. I’m usually turned off by the idea of a hot pink blouse, but if there are ruffles or lace involved I can get onboard. I think a hot pink blouse needs to be fairly frilly, all out girl. I don’t think I would get a classic button-up blouse or a tee in a hot pink. I think of hot pink as a statement color, so the cut of the top needs to be a statement as well. I think a hot pink blouse is the only time I think a hot pink lip or statement earrings would be appropriate (not both though!). If it’s balanced with jeans and a nude pump and loose waves or a simply pony it can look really chic with that same color pop on the lip or ear!

IF LONDON WERE A COAT…

I spied this coat months ago here and I spent weeks obsessing over it. At the time, I knew we were going to London but didn’t realize quite how cold it would be out there, so I wasn’t actively looking for coats for our trip. Also at the time, this coat was not on sale. As our trip approached, I just couldn’t get this coat out of my head and when I saw that it went on sale for 40% off, I snagged it. I read a few mixed reviews on the quality of the coat online, but I took my chances and I’m SO glad that I did!

This coat, you guys. It’s one of the prettiest pieces of clothing I have ever owned. The color is this gorgeous light purply pink orchid, and the buttons are rose rhinestones (which might sound like a bit too much, but they are amazing in person!). The wool is thick and such good quality. It is by far the warmest coat of all the ones I brought with me. I bought a few different sizes and ended up sticking with the size 2. I wore this coat on one of our days exploring Notting Hill, and we found this darling house that matched it perfectly! I paired it with these pretty blush Tieks that were a live saver to my feet and to my suitcase! I’m a bit Tiek obsessed. They pack up so small and compact! With all the gorgeous pink doors, homes, flowers, and trees in bloom, this coat was right at home in London!

MY NORDSTROM HALF YEARLY SALE PICKS

The Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale is going on now through June 5th! I went through and picked out my favorite items and put them below in categories so they’re easy to shop straight from this post. I was actually surprised at how fast items are selling out! A lot of things only had a few sizes left, only a few hours after the sale started. So don’t wait if you love something because chances are it won’t be there when you come back for it later!

Overall, I think this sale has a lot of really great practical items that will work for both Spring and Summer. If you’re like me, you can appreciate the value of quality basics that work with multiple outfits, like this top that comes in a few different colors, and this flowy top that is so comfy and flattering. There are lots of cute sandals and flats too. I love these wrap sandals, and these studded flats. And don’t miss out on some really cute bags, like this Rebecca Minkoff tote in grey. TUESDAY OUTFIT INSPIRATION

Happy Tuesday everyone! I love how simple, yet elegant this look is. This amazing blue eyelet top is so feminine with the prettiest details. The light blue almost looks white, so it works perfectly with these white pants and pale blue wedges. I threw in some pretty bright pops of color with this adorable bag and turquoise ring. I went with NARS lipstick in the color ‘Catherine,’ which is an orangey pink that ties in really well with the pale blues. I kept the earrings distinctive and white, so that they weren’t taking away from the rest of the pieces. And I always love a simple gold watch. Tie it all together with this perfume, which smells amazing and lasts all day, and you’re set.

INSTAGRAM ROUNDUP + UPCOMING SALE

Black distressed pants are such a great alternative to jeans. I love how easily you can dress them up or down. And this faux leather jacket is such a must this Spring. It’s easily been one of my favorite staples. I find that it goes with everything.

This bathing suit is adorable. You can’t really tell from the picture, but the top part is basically one big bow. Seriously so cute, and it stands out just enough from a basic striped suit because of the bow detail.

A WHITE SPRING

All white looks are everywhere this spring and I love it. I’ve been wearing a lot of white recently (I Instagramed a few looks here, here and here). It just feels so pretty and fresh. One of my favorite spring trends is white bags. This white clutch is so simple and basic, and such a good size. I also wore it in this post. I recently picked up this Kate Spade bag (you can see it in this post), and it’s a perfect everyday bag. The color is ‘crisp linen,’ and it is the perfect shade. It’s sliqhtly off white, but not too grey. I love having one white clutch I can dress up with, and one a bit more casual for everyday looks.

 

Nordstrom has so many pretty white options. I’ve highlighted a few of my favorites below:
  • Nordstrom just got this style similar to my clutch but slightly more embellished.
  • This clutch is simple and classy, and a great price point at under $50.
  • Saddlebags are some of my favorite bags, and I’m obsessed with the gold studs on this one!
  • The perforated leather on this white tote is gorgeous! It would make such a cute bag to bring to the beach!
  • I love the look of this crisp clean crossbody bag.

THE TOP TREND SERIES: FOUR WAYS TO STYLE WHITE LINEN PANTS

It’s a new month, so it’s time for another Top Trend Series post! This month the must have item I am loving is white linen pants. Wide leg pants are super popular right now, but I just can’t jump on the wide leg jean cropped pants. But, I have been wanting a pair of white linen pants for over a year, and

>these ones from Nordstrom are the perfect pants to work the wide leg trend. I posted this pair a few weeks ago over on my instagram.

White pants are super versatile already, but the lightweight linen fabric screams summer vacation. A big bonus about these pants is that they are really comfy! I love this pair, and I think they are a great price. These ones run big (I got an x-small), so just be aware. The wide legs can be a little tricky to style proportionately, so I’ve broken down each of the four looks below and why they work.

 DENIM JACKET | SIMILAR BLACK HAT | COGNAC BAG | STRIPED TOP (I sized up for this one) | LINEN PANTS (size down, they run large) | SIMILAR SANDALS 

A classic black and white striped tee is always a good choice with white pants. Since this top is oversized, I tucked just the front of the top in a bit to define the waist, and I layered it with a basic jean jacket to pull it in a bit. I’m such a sucker for baseball caps, and I think this casual black one balances out the casual linen pants.

White on white is one of my most favorite looks to wear this season. It’s so crisp and clean. For this look I opted not to tuck in my top because the blouse is a nicer drapey fabric, and it hangs beautifully when left untucked. The pants are a casual linen, but I like the juxtaposition of the casual linen next to the nicer blouse. I added my slightly off white Kate Spade crossbody bag and pale blue flats to keep with the light theme, but to add some slight shade contrasts.

This look might be my very favorite. I wasn’t going to tuck in my chambray top, but I think it adds just the right amount of structure when it’s tucked into the pants. Untucked looked a bit too sloppy for me. I loosely rolled the sleeves and popped the collar just a bit too. White and light blue with a pop of bright coral red is one of my favorite color combinations!

For this look I picked a drapey blouse as well, but because it’s so long I needed to tuck in the front. The back is super long but I like the look of it long and untucked. A long necklace mimics the length of the top and makes the pairing look intentional. I added some cute patterned flats and a dressy clutch to make these pants date night ready.

These pants are lightweight so they would be great for throwing in your suitcase for a sunny vacation! I think they would also be an easy cute swim coverup option. Nordstrom has a few other really cute white linen pant options that I’ve linked to below..

INSTAGRAM ROUNDUP

Happy weekend everyone! Here are a few snaps of some of the oufits I have worn over on my instagram this past week. (if you aren’t following me over there I would love to have you follow along!) Each item I am wearing is linked below the picture!

These jeans are super soft and so flattering. I was a little on the fence about getting a pair of flairs, but these ones are like magic. I love them! Every time I wear them Garrett tells me how much he loves them…so that must mean they are really good if the husband approves!

This skirt is like a work of art. The quality of it is incredible for the price too! It’s make out of this thick scuba material that is really cool, and feels extremely durable. I bought this thinking it probably wasn’t going to be as great as the photo of it online, but it is better in person, trust me.

The photo doesn’t do the true vibrance of this suit justice. It is the most gorgeous bright fuchsia. It’s a very high quality suit, and the ruching  is flattering and forgiving. It also has full coverage on the bum (which is super important to me when I am chasing my kids around on the beach), and it’s long enough that I’m not pulling the top up and the bottom down all the time.

These jeans are by far my most word distressed jeans. Super comfy and they hold their shape. Love them!

VINCE SPRING

I was browsing through Nordstrom the other day, and I found so many great Vince Camuto pieces in for Spring. Have you seen some of their new items? So many of them are perfectly minimal and basic, but always have a little twist somewhere that makes the item unique. Like the pleating on the back of this top, or the weaving on these flats (so comfy!). The price point is pretty spot on, especially for the quality that you get. 
This stretchy knit skit is so unbelievably soft, and it just came out in 4 different colors! (black, pink, red, and blue). I don’t know why it’s so hard to find a simple solid color pencil skirt, but I look every season, and I just end up making myself one because I can’t ever find one in stores. I was so excited to find this one, and for only $50. It does run big, so size down. Knit pencil skirts don’t usually last very long on Nordstrom.com, so the sell out risk on this item is pretty high. Snatch one up for Spring while you can!

  • I feel like I have seen these cute cut out sandals all over Instagram. They would be so darling with a white sundress!
  • In addition to the knit pencil skirt, I’m also loving this lace overlay pencil skirt. So pretty and feminine (and it comes in 3 colors).
  • Loving the print on this floral dress. 
  • Perforated loafers are huge for Spring, and these are the cutest white ones I’ve seen. 
  • This soft slouchy grey top is definitely a closet staple. The fabric is cool and light weight, and I love the long back hem. 
  • You can’t go wrong with the perfect minimal white blazer.
