THE TOP TREND SERIES: FOUR WAYS TO STYLE WHITE LINEN PANTS
It’s a new month, so it’s time for another Top Trend Series post! This month the must have item I am loving is white linen pants. Wide leg pants are super popular right now, but I just can’t jump on the wide leg jean cropped pants. But, I have been wanting a pair of white linen pants for over a year, and
>these ones from Nordstrom are the perfect pants to work the wide leg trend. I posted this pair a few weeks ago over on my instagram.
White pants are super versatile already, but the lightweight linen fabric screams summer vacation. A big bonus about these pants is that they are really comfy! I love this pair, and I think they are a great price. These ones run big (I got an x-small), so just be aware. The wide legs can be a little tricky to style proportionately, so I’ve broken down each of the four looks below and why they work.
A classic black and white striped tee is always a good choice with white pants. Since this top is oversized, I tucked just the front of the top in a bit to define the waist, and I layered it with a basic jean jacket to pull it in a bit. I’m such a sucker for baseball caps, and I think this casual black one balances out the casual linen pants.
White on white is one of my most favorite looks to wear this season. It’s so crisp and clean. For this look I opted not to tuck in my top because the blouse is a nicer drapey fabric, and it hangs beautifully when left untucked. The pants are a casual linen, but I like the juxtaposition of the casual linen next to the nicer blouse. I added my slightly off white Kate Spade crossbody bag and pale blue flats to keep with the light theme, but to add some slight shade contrasts.
This look might be my very favorite. I wasn’t going to tuck in my chambray top, but I think it adds just the right amount of structure when it’s tucked into the pants. Untucked looked a bit too sloppy for me. I loosely rolled the sleeves and popped the collar just a bit too. White and light blue with a pop of bright coral red is one of my favorite color combinations!
For this look I picked a drapey blouse as well, but because it’s so long I needed to tuck in the front. The back is super long but I like the look of it long and untucked. A long necklace mimics the length of the top and makes the pairing look intentional. I added some cute patterned flats and a dressy clutch to make these pants date night ready.

These pants are lightweight so they would be great for throwing in your suitcase for a sunny vacation! I think they would also be an easy cute swim coverup option. Nordstrom has a few other really cute white linen pant options that I’ve linked to below..
THE TOP TREND SERIES: FOUR WAYS TO STYLE A T-SHIRT DRESS
It’s time for a new “The Top Trend” post! This month I wanted to take a simple T-shirt dress and show you 4 ways to style it. When it really comes down to it, the simple basic items in my closet are what get the most wear.
A t-shirt dress lends itself to be casual. It’s simple, comfy, and the fabric moves and breaths easily. It’s a great alternative to jeans when you are running errands, especially on a hot day. And I love it paired with this suede baseball cap!
With a solid color t-shirt dress, I love adding a fun colorful heel. I love the royal blue on this pair (I wore them out to a girls night this week and walked a block in them no problem! They are super comfy). I kept the clutch the same color as the dress to let the shoes do most of the talking in this look.
A t-shirt dress is also a great option as a coverup to the beach. I added some pattern to this look with a big floppy striped hat, and threw on some comfy neutral wedges.
The t-shirt dress is kind of like a blank slate, so you can pair lots of fun statement pieces with it. I’ve had my eye out for a good pair of gladiator sandals for this summer, and I love these ones! Since the neck on this dress is so high, I love the look of a statement necklace with it. The necklace is bold, and the shoes are bold, but they are far enough away from each other in this look that I don’t think it’s too busy.
This dress was easy to wear, easy to style…and easy to order! I am completely obsessed with Zappos’s one day shipping. I’ve been ordering directly from the Zappos app on my phone and it’s quite addicting.
The Top Trend Series: Four Ways to Style a Knit Pencil Skirt
Last month I launched a new series on the blog I call ‘The Top Trend’ (you can check out my first post here). This month the trending piece you should include in your wardrobe this season is a knit pencil skirt. I’m especially loving striped ones. They are so versatile and so easy to wear. There is something about knit fabric that allows a piece to be dressy or casual, which I love. It’s nice to have a handful of these kinds of items in your closet that can get you through multiple events no matter what the dress code.

This casual version is how I most frequently style my knit pencil skirts. A comfy loose tee, hat, and white tennis shoes make for the perfect momiform. I can run around town and chase after my kids easily in this cute casual look.

The look would be cute with just the tee, but a vest adds an essential ‘third piece’, something that makes the look comprehensive and complete. You could do the same thing with a jean jacket and achieve the same effect.

A dressier blouse amps up the knit skirt, and some colorful pumps really qualify this look as ‘dressy’. This look would definitely work for the office or church. (and the skirt would still be comfy)
THE TOP TREND SERIES: FOUR WAYS TO STYLE A BOMBER JACKET
Today I’m launching a new series on Elle Apparel called ‘The Top Trend’. Each month I will feature an item that I love that is currently trending, or one that will be trending for the upcoming season. I’ll round up some of my favorite (in all price ranges) and show you 4 ways to style the piece. My goal is to make sure you know pieces that are going to be super hot, make sure you get them in your closet, and show you how versatile they can be!
This month I am loving the bomber jacket trend. My favorite one out there is this lighter weight jersey bomber that is currently in stock for less than $40! It might still be freezing and snowing where you are, but snag it now so that it isn’t sold out when you are ready to wear it when it warms up!

A little lace and heels dresses almost anything up! You might recognize this outfit from my instagram post yesterday. I love the juxtaposition of the masculine army green mixed with the feminine cream lace.

I’m a girly girl, but I do love adding a little edge. This jacket looks great with a good pair of faux leggings. I kept this looks toned down a bit by adding my current favorite black and white sneakers, and paired it with classic stripes.

A chambray top goes with practically everything, and this bomber jacket is no exception. I love the look of white pants with army green booties to match the jacket. It calls attention to both the jacket and boots, and elongates your legs in the process. I’ll take come elongating wherever I can get it!

Ahhh the navy/white striped dress. So classic. And pairs so well with the bomber jacket. This look is dressy…mostly because its a dress. But I threw on flats with it to keep it casual enough for a park play date! (I’m wearing an XS)
