A few weekends ago we packed up/bought/borrowed all the snow gear we could for all the kiddos and took a weekend trip with some friends up to Big Bear. We stayed in a gorgeous cabin on the mountain. We got there right after a big snow storm, so there was plenty of fresh snow for the kids to play in. The views were incredible!
I might have complained a little (a lot) about how long it took be to round up full blown snow gear for all the kids and get everyone packed up (7.5 hours…but who’s counting), but man I’m glad we went! The boys aren’t in the snow very often, and they were in heaven. It was Eli’s first time to the snow and he loved it! We took the kids to a tubing park one afternoon. It might have been the most strenuous workout of my life carting around 30 pound Eli in a stay-puff-marshmallow-suit + a tube, but again, it was worth it. So I guess the moral of this story is, it’s worth all the blood, sweat, and tears that go into making something different or special for the kids! 😉
I also lucked out that one of the friends that came with us on our trip is an incredibly talented photographer. One morning we put the husbands on kid-duty and ran out to shoot a few looks in the pretty morning fog. If you are in need of a photographer in the Nevada area, you must look Julie up!

I have found over the years that sometimes the easiest way to go for gift giving is accessories. There are so many fun accessories that are affordable and easy to customize for the person you’re buying for. Nordstrom is my favorite place to go to find cute accessories. They always have a great selection of both seasonal and non-seasonal hats, gloves, scarves, and clutches. And the best thing about buying accessories is you never have to worry about getting someone’s sizing right.
This is by far the best time of year to buy the people on your list a new hat, scarf, or pair of gloves. And who wouldn’t love opening a cute new clutch? Giving the gift of accessories is not only practical, it’s affordable and allows your style to come through in the types of items you choose. All of the accessories I found at Nordstrom are great price points, with gift giving made easy at around $30 or less. And because it’s Nordstrom, you can be sure quality is never sacrificed. I’d love to hear some of your favorite accessories to give or receive this time of year!
